C.A.R.E. Gears up for New Season
C.A.R.E. has published a schedule for its upcoming summer season. Members are currently planning a summer-long series of events for the Katahdin Region.
Beginning Saturday, May 10, volunteers will be on hand to sell raffle tickets and offer carnations for mothers at Pangburn’s Family IGA in Millinocket from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Raffle prizes are a white water rafting for two, courtesy of New England Outdoor Center, and Memories of Maine Jean MacLean’s framed lithograph of Mount Katahdin. Tickets are $1.00 each and 6 for $5.00. The drawing will be held Saturday, June 21, at Veteran’s Memorial Park in downtown Millinocket. Prizes will be on display at Magic City Mini Golf.
Also planned are a Farmer’s Market, outdoor live musical performances, children’s activities, family fun, health, and education materials through collaboration with the Katahdin Area Partnership. Interested community groups are encouraged to contact members of the committee for participation. Specifics are still in the planning stages, and suggestions are welcome.
C.A.R.E. is made up of a group of volunteers from the business community, civic groups, and concerned citizens. Its mission is to produce quality family events to enhance the quality of life and to encourage civic pride in our region, which will in turn promote commerce and establish a cultural identity.
