Dear Editor:

We are writing to let everyone know how pleased we are with our first C.A.R.E. event of the summer season, and offer thanks to those who participated. The weather wasn’t as cooperative as we would have liked, but we persevered and did our best.

Many local merchants helped us pay for the band. Thanks to P&H Auto, Bubba’s, Scootic Inn, Downtown Restaurant, Gracie’s Aunt’s Closet, Levasseur’s Hardware, Blue Ox, and Maine Country Charm. Please support these folks when you get a chance.

Our next event is scheduled for June 21, during the Shriners’ Convention. We are planning with Katahdin Federal Credit Union, The Recreation Department, and The Katahdin Area Partnership some fun kids’ activities in the park.

As always, if you’d like to participate as a volunteer or a vendor, please let us know (Amy at the Rec office: 723-7011). The more the merrier!

C.A.R.E. stands for Community Activity & Recreational Events. We are a not-for-profit group of volunteers from the business community, concerned citizens, and civic groups. Our mission is to produce fun family events, enhancing the quality of life and civic pride in our region.

See you in June!

Jen Olsen, Secretary
