There is basic incompatibility between the legal profession and a person's ability to serve in elected office, that is sufficient reason to ban lawyers from serving in public office. The exception is a position such as Attorney General in which legal experience is necessary.

The St. Louis, Missouri, Sunday Post-Dispatch Early Metro Edition, 11 November 2007, carried a front-page story titled "WILDERNESS, PURE AND SIMPLE. The Missouri Wilderness Coalition wants federal protection for 50,000 more acres, making it off-limits to ATVs, logging and mining." Proposed areas include Van East Mountain and Lower Rock Creek in the Fredericktown Ranger District, plus five other areas in Mark Twain National Forest.

Now and then, on the evening television news, you see a story about a lady who takes in every stray cat that shows up at her house. The lady acts out of compassion. She feels sorry for the poor, homeless cats. She puts out bowls of cat food and allows the strays to move into her shed and sometimes even into her home.
