American media have degenerated into a public health hazard and a cause of international terrorism. Not all members of the media are guilty, but enough are guilty that the overall effect is destructive. Media are antagonistic, insulting, hypocritical, and decidedly un-American in outlook, promoting Socialist causes and immoral lifestyles, and offer very little of direct value as compensation for wading through the garbage. Real news is replaced by leftwing political agenda propaganda posing as news. Fortunately, many of the biggest offenders have so disgusted and alienated their viewers, listeners and readers that media product consumption and advertising revenue are dramatically down and dropping, which, hopefully, could lead either to those offensive media giants going out of business or to radical restructuring of content in their products.
What is the problem?
Media lies-by-omission to its viewers, listeners and readers. Media offers a distorted, depressing view of American culture that in no way reflects the reality of American culture. Media spews the same format ad nauseam. Change the names and dates, and the biased and depressing news in today's newspaper is the same biased and depressing news that was in the newspaper last year, ten years ago, fifty years ago, ad infinitum. You live as you think, and if you believe the media onslaught of biased and bad news you will lead a biased, bad, and unsuccessful life.
How does this Great Lie occur?
Media focus is on the unusual and improbable, not on the normal. Media are saturated with the weird, the extraneous, the seldom happening and socially destructive, and the overall effect is one of depressing the daily lives of readers, listeners and viewers. Unhealthful lifestyles are glorified as 'edgy' or 'chic' or somehow superior to traditional behavior that has served mankind well for millennia. Chronic societal depression and guilt are a direct result of chronic individual depression and guilt made worse by millions of today's media consumers wallowing in media's degenerate offerings, leading to individual and national societal decline of physical and mental health and to personal inability to function productively as a citizen. Dysfunctional television families are held up as the norm, and if you watch enough daily soap operas with their idiotic laugh-tracks, you soon learn that fathers serve no important family function and can be replaced by a welfare check, and kids are wild and undisciplined brats ready to be instantly snatched away by Family Services and placed in grim institutional or foster care if mom dares apply a spanking to correct uncivil behavior.
The issue of guns in the hands of private citizens is one example of the Great Media Lie.
Somebody shoots somebody. That is splashed all over the Front Page and the Evening News. Do we need to know that? No. Does that event directly affect the lives of nearly all viewers, listeners and readers? No. Is that event presented in the context of the hundreds of people who used a gun that day to protect themselves and their property, and merely displaying the firearm was sufficient to drive the bad guy away without anyone getting shot? No. The news item, although factual, is a Great Media Lie-By-Omission, because no mention is made of all those other people who are members of America's 300,000,000 population who used a firearm to protect themselves that day without shooting or getting shot. You can be sure that the one isolated incident of irresponsible firearms use will be trumpeted by irresponsible editors, irresponsible radio announcers and irresponsible TV news-babes to influence irresponsible Socialist politicians who always are looking for yet another way to nullify the Second Amendment and, eventually, to nullify all the rest of the U. S. Constitution. You can be sure that the media, and eventually the lawyers and courts, will blame the victim and excuse the shooter's irresponsible behavior on some pretext such as 'the poor underprivileged minority child has a difficult home life.' There will never, NEVER, be the suggestion that mandatory universal training in firearms safety and proper use, starting in grade school and extending through high school, would likely solve most of the problem with improper use of firearms.
Terrorism?
Islamic terrorists and other bad guys do have a point. Yes, America really is the Great Satan, a degenerate and unholy cesspool of greedy, immoral and unethical scum, forever whacked-out on drugs and getting drunk, wrecking expensive cars, polluting the world, gobbling global natural resources, and bent on world domination and exploitation. How do they know this? They are exposed to international distribution of American news programs, television programs, situation comedies, Hollywood garbage too raunchy and rank to be shown in America, and daily news drivel trumpeting the injustice, intolerance, murders, political malfeasance, environmental destruction and other items that are an almost invisibly tiny fraction of real daily life in America. With that view of American life, gleefully offered by America's media, what rational person would not hate America and want to destroy a few cities?
The problem is, media's presentation of America is so far from the reality of America as to be an ongoing horror show of creative fiction. American media offer The Great Lie, the unproven crises-of-the-month parade of make-believe global emergencies such as manmade Global Warming and extinction of 'endangered' animals, presented out of context and without scientific proof, backed by testimonies from witless movie stars and World Government environmental radicals, for the purpose of stealing freedom, private property, and Constitutional government, replacing truth with exaggeration, sensationalism and lies, in an attempt to build viewership and paid circulation.
Opinions belong on the Editorial Page, regardless the type of media. More and more, opinions are presented as news and fact, a serious and now chronic condition of journalistic malpractice. If you seek guidance, you will do better if you understand what the media present and then do the opposite. For many major newspaper publishers, the traditional use of newspaper to line the bottom of a bird cage is probably the best use of their product. Birds, fortunately, cannot read, otherwise they would probably sicken and die from constant exposure to the vile poison churning on the pages collecting their poop.
There is an old saying, "Half the truth is often a great lie." America's print, radio, and television media have proven the truth of this statement and have elevated the problem to a condition of national disease. It is no longer 'Half the truth', it is now a barely visible, tiny fraction of truth, many standard deviations from the mean. A Great Lie, constantly repeated, that is sickening the people it touches, and enraging and goading our enemies.
'Music'
How about some joyful music about America's accomplishments. How about some music that requires technical competence and skill to produce, not just highly electronically amplified discordant noise. We do have glorious successes and there is good music that tells stories of those successes. Instead, we get 'Country Music' whining about a great love lost, or divorce, or glorifying alcoholism, or extolling the virtues of 'country living' which is presented as never quite getting life right in a rural environment. The absolute bottommost layer of scum is 'Rap Music' which is an ongoing incitement to riot tacked onto primitive repetitious drum beating and vomiting messages that the world is a hopeless mess in which listeners are a permanently downtrodden underclass with no hope, ever, of rising to become productive and successful citizens. Okay, listen to that crap long enough and you WILL be a permanently downtrodden individual with no hope, ever, of rising to become a productive and useful citizen. You may become a domestic terrorist. You will probably become a Democrat.
Garbage Television.
Watching most television programs broadcast between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. rots one I..Q. Point from your brain for each hour of viewing. NOVA has good science and history programs, but even NOVA sometimes drifts into sappy environmental and animal programs offering a desperate worldview and predictions of impending doom unless we 'save' something or other. What NOVA and kindred programs really need to produce are not programs on how to 'save' some obscure life form that could disappear this instant without affecting anything, but programs on how property owners are successfully saving their land and lifestyle from greedy environmentalists and encroaching government land-grabs, and how conservative politicians are successfully battling Global Government attempts to control the world.
Hello, conservative rich people.
Do something constructive with your billions of dollars. Buy the big newspapers, radio stations and television broadcasters that are now sliding into bankruptcy. Appoint conservative editors who will print the truth. Fire the grumpy hardboiled Socialist reporters and staff and replace them with people who actually believe in America and are eager to report facts in context. Tell people what is good about America. When you must report bad news, report in context. Your media acquisition will soon turn a profit. We The People are sick, literally, of, and are rejecting en-masse, the daily garbage the media have been throwing at us for more than a century. That's why media giants are now teetering at the edge of bankruptcy. Nobody wants to consume depressing Socialist propaganda pretending to be real news just to extract a little biased information of marginal use in daily life. There are now other places to get real news. Traditional radio, television, and especially newspapers, produce a product that fewer and fewer people want and tolerate.
We know that America in reality is far, far better than America's fictitious rotten media image of America. We hunger for truth and news of our continuing greatness.
