Why the Steepening Yield Curve?
Some readers may not understand that a steepening yield curve (i.e., one in which the spread between short and long term interest rates is a wide one) is generally taken to mean that investors expect rising interest rates.

Where's David Axelrod?
If real substance is to emerge from the vacuity of the President's policies, it presumably will come from Mr. Axelrod, his behind-the-scenes campaign manager and PR crafter.

Hillary Clinton, Racist Fellow-Traveler
Planned Parenthood's founder, Margaret Sanger, was a racist and an ardent eugenicist who viewed birth control as simply a way to reduce the fecundity of those she considered undesirables: immigrant Jews, Poles, Hungarians, Italians, and others from central and southern Europe.

What a New New Deal Means For You
Socialism, the motivating ideology of Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal, is the opposite of the political state envisioned in the Bill of Rights.  Socialism requires that your individual liberties be subordinated to the needs of the political state.

Government-Imposed Uncertainty Deepens The Recession
Repeated Federal interventions in the economy makes businessmen fearful of what the government may do next.  And that fear prolongs recessions.

Ideological Civil War
Democrat/Socialists started the ideological warfare in Congress with their slanderous attacks that blocked the 1987 Supreme Court nomination of Judge Robert Bork.

A Jackboot at Home, an Olive Branch Abroad
An economic crisis is too good an opportunity to be wasted on economics, when it can be used, as Franklin Roosevelt did in the Depression, to revolutionize the nation's social and political structure..

Government as the Agent of Prosperity
Mr. Airth's implicit view of government's socialistic role is nearly indistinguishable from the conditions of medieval serfdom.  That's why Friedrich Hayek named his well-known and on-target predictions about British socialism "The Road to Serfdom."

The Constitution Be Damned
Decades of left-wing judicial activism and, now, Congressional rage enacted in punitive, ex post facto taxation, are inexorably undermining the Constitution's intent.

China Puts Us on Notice
The Federal government is, in effect, saying that the cure for today's hangover is to drink a whole case of whiskey. China has good reason to be worried.

We Know What's Best For You
Democrat-Socialists are prepared to force everyone to do what their academic planners think will be best for the new one-world government. Two current examples of Democrat-Socialist dirigisme are "green" energy and nationalized healthcare.

Why Government Is The Problem
During the 20th century, our original ethos, our original unwritten constitution, was eroded by the growing influence of liberal-progressivism's secular humanism, which reoriented the nation from God-centered personal responsibility to a political-state-centered society in which individuals abandoned personal responsibility and looked to the government to bail them out of every problem. That society, our present one, encourages government to follow the temptation to enlarge the welfare state and to finance it with inflationary expansion of the currency.

Social Justice As Foreign Policy
President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton reportedly believe that the key to world peace is an international welfare state to equalize wealth distribution worldwide.

Inquisition or Scientific Investigation?
Is it in the spirit of scientific research to ostracize and to punish anyone who brings new and contradictory evidence to the table? The Spanish Inquisition was not an effort to discover the truth. It was a means to eliminate any dissent from orthodoxy.

Keynes's Wrong-Turn Hypothesis
I have noted before that Wall Street Journal news reporters often display pervasive, sometimes subtle, liberal-progressive-socialist biases. Unlike the Journal's editorial board writers, among other things, they still parrot the nonsense popularized by economist John Maynard Keynes during the 1930s Depression.

The Enduring Word of God
As far back as 2200 BC, 4,200 years ago, those who were to become the people of Israel, were devoutly aware that their universe owed its existence to a God whose almighty name was so awe inspiring that it could not be spoken.

A Liberal Glimpses the Truth, Albeit Dimly
Mr. Herbert is about as far left in his liberal-progressive ideology as any writer in today's mainstream media. Yet he has glimpsed enough of the truth to identify consumption floated by excessive debt as a cause of our present economic woes.

Ayers and Dohrn are Liars
Organized anti-American student anarchism began with Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) and Tom Hayden's 1962 Port Huron Statement.  More violent, radical members of SDS, among them Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, broke away from SDS to form Weatherman.

Whence Comes the Concept of Fairness, of Right and Wrong?
Their anti-spiritual psychology of materialism led straight to the slaughter of more than 70,000 French citizens during the Reign of Terror, perpetrated in the name of Liberty, Equality, and Brotherhood.

The New Deal Would Have Worked, If...
The standard liberal-progressive-socialist litany is that socialism, in the New Deal and subsequent years, would have succeeded, if only the government had spent more money for a longer time.

A Preacher for the Gnostic Religion of Socialism
When critics are unkind enough to point out that transfiguration of society in the socialist model always results in government deficits, inflation, economic repression, shortages, and lower incomes for everyone, Naomi Klein and her followers blame their failures on someone or something other than themselves and their gnostic fantasy of a materialistic heaven on earth.

Generous With Other People's Money
Liberal-progressives presume that they can do no wrong, so long as they take other people's money for the benefit of the secular and socialistic welfare state.

Pursuing the Common Good
The question Mr. Reno asks, however, is whether free-market capitalism must be indifferent to the broader aspects of the common good. Must it be, as liberal-progressive-socialists contend, driven by selfish greed?

Labor Unions: A Brood of Vipers
Liberal-progressives support labor unions because they are, along with the extortionate, class-action tort lawyers, the largest contributors and get-out-the-vote organizations wedded to the Democrat/Socialist party.

Mandating a Perfect World
Liberal-progressives' conception of social justice always requires the political state forcibly to impose some form of equality. Forced equality was the mode in the world's first socialist political state, Revolutionary France.

Murder by Abortion Leads to Societal Death
Liberal-progressivism's preoccupation with self-indulgent hedonism, evidenced glaringly in abortion advocacy, is literally death, the abnegation of social cohesion through abandonment of personal responsibility and morality.

$700 Billion Worth of Vagueness
It is this 1930s paradigm that shapes today's liberal-socialist politicians, main-stream media writers, and Hollywood entertainers, leading to their fervent support of Senator Barack Obama's campaign for the presidency.
