WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Rep. Mike Michaud met with Speaker of the Maine House Mark Eves to discuss ways members of the state's Congressional delegation could support state efforts to help seniors age safely and comfortably in their homes and communities. Eves briefed Rep. Michaud on his "KeepME Home" initiative, which aims to create affordable housing for seniors across Maine, strengthen in-home care, and expand property tax credits for seniors.
"Maine is the oldest state in the nation when it comes to the age of our population. I had a good conversation with Speaker Eves about how we can leverage federal resources and best practices to support his plan, which makes great strides toward not only fulfilling our promise to seniors, but growing Maine's economy in the process," said Michaud. "By creating more affordable housing for seniors and strengthening the home healthcare industry, we are strengthening our economy and potentially creating more jobs."
