WINSLOW -- The 7th Annual Genealogy Conference will be held Saturday, September 6, at Winslow Congregational Church, on Lithgow Street, next to Taconnett Library.
The event will feature American Revolution Re-enactors, vendors, door prizes, workshops on various topics in family history, and more. Registration and coffee hour will be from 8 to 9 a.m.
Workshop sessions will include Strategies for New England Roots, taught by Carol McCoy in two sessions; Beginning Genealogy; RootsMagic Genealogy Software, taught by Debbie Roberge; Civil War Maine Men at Andersonville Prison, also taught by Debbie Roberge; Franco-American Research, taught by Bob Chenard; Lineage Societies, taught by Donna Hoffman, Honorary State Regent, Maine State Organization, Daughters of the American Revolution; Organizing Your Research, taught by Carolyn Browne; and Native American Genealogy, taught by Nancy Lacompte.
McCobb’s Co., 74th Regiment of Foot, Argyll Highlanders, Captain John Campbell’s Battalion will reenact American Revolution era events on the banks of the Kennebec River from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Vendor tables and the Taconnett Library will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission to the conference, sponsored by Silence Howard Hayden Chapter, DAR, is $12 prior to Aug. 29, and $15 at the door, or $10 for DAR members. A deli buffet lunch is available for an additional $6.
