WASHINGTON, D.C. -- U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud is praising an $800,000 investment from the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Brownfield revolving loan fund to help address contaminated Brownfield sites in the state. According to the EPA, the Piscataquis County Economic Development Council will receive $300,000 and the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development will receive $500,000.

The funding supports the cleanup and redevelopment of brownfield sites, creating jobs while improving the environment and protecting the health of local populations.

"I'm pleased that so many communities in Maine will benefit from this important investment that allows for the cleanup and redevelopment of brownfield sites," said Michaud. "Maximizing the potential of these sites strengthens local economies, lays a solid foundation for growth within a community, and ensures the safety and well-being of residents. I'm looking forward to seeing the positive development that will come from this investment."
