3rd Annual Fort Kent International Muskie Fishing Derby

FORT KENT -- The Town of Fort Kent, Maine together with the Fort Kent International Muskie Derby Committee and our many generous sponsors are pleased to announce the 3rd Annual Fort Kent International Muskie Fishing Derby on Saturday and Sunday, August 12th and 13th, 2006.

The derby opens at 9:00 A.M. Saturday at Bee-Jays Tavern on Main Street in Fort Kent and the scales will be open until 7:00 P.M. on Sunday evening.

The total purse for 2006 derby will be $20,000.00. Distribution will be a $10,000.00 prize for the correct tagged fish contest, $3,500.00 first prize for the longest fish caught $2,500.00 second longest and $1,000.00 for third place in the adult category.

The Youth category will be dispersed as follows: longest fish, 1st place, $1,000.00 bond; 2nd place $750.00 bond; and 3rd place $500.00 bond. There will be a $500.00 prize for the “Furthest Traveled” fishermen and a $250.00 dollar prize for the first muskie caught from the International Bridge connecting Fort Kent, Maine and Clair, New Brunswick.

The Derby will also sponsor a Fireworks show on Saturday evening. This year, the Fort Kent International Fishing Derby has welcomed the Greater Fort Kent Chamber of Commerce and their Famous “Ploye Festival" in joining in for a great weekend of fun and activities for young and old alike.
