Time for Reflection

  • This article was first published on Oct 18, 2008 at Magic City Morning Star News and although 4 years old, the message is timeless. Today it is republished with a 2013 addendum.

In an article entitled: "Temple Time?" written by David Smith at Jerusalem Post (Oct 17,2008), readers are given insight into Modern Israel's search for it's ancient religious roots, through the work done by The Temple Institute.

For centuries Jews have remembered and mourned the destruction of the Temple through traditions such as crushing a glass at weddings or leaving unpainted a patch of wall opposite the entrance to one's home - each stressing that nothing can be perfect or complete without the Temple.

The Temple Institute was founded in 1987 with the explicit goal of rebuilding the Temple.

Whilst the article standing alone is both interesting and informative, the last two paragraphs carry a message which goes well beyond the bounds of Judaism. Allow me to quote it:

"Everything that goes on in this country relates to the spiritual struggle behind it all - especially with the people of Israel. It's all about a total struggle about who we are and what our destiny is. We're not called to be the best doctors and lawyers and Hollywood producers - that is not our destiny. We're called to be a nation of priests," he says.

"The Temple is a real litmus paper test of that equation. We are talking about the big existential question: Who are we?"

I wonder how often people stop to think about just who exactly they are and what their destiny is. Of course it is hard to imagine what an evolutionist would stop to think about in this regard for I can only imagine the answers to be: 'A Chemical accident!' and 'None!'

Of course for some, the mere notion of undergoing some sort of 'spiritual' reflection is anathema. Since there is no god nor intelligent design, there can be nothing spiritual: Not if you retain the original meaning of 'spirit'.

Cultural Marxism is doing it's best in the west to completely destroy religion and spirituality; apart from those times of course when it suits the Marxist agenda to raise a religion to a prominence over another so as to destroy the newly 'inferior' one. Such is the desire of some to undo the cultural effects of religion that they become willing partners in deception; as has been the case with some supporting fanatic Islamics who claim that there never was a Solomon's temple. How Jewish is Jerusalem?

For a growing number of academics and intellectuals, King David and his united kingdom of Judah and Israel, which has served for 3,000 years as an integral symbol of the Jewish nation, is simply a piece of fiction. But as reported in the article above, those Revisionist Lies have come undone. Despite that fact however, it remains true that there is a subculture at work in the West that is determined to destroy the traditional cultures of Western Countries. Many of those belonging to this subculture hide behind respectable and allegedly humanitarian facades that enable them to undermine our culture. If we don't recognise this, then how can we cope with it?

Can we cope?

History, accelerated by science, is compressing itself, and our misfortunes, into ever tighter spirals. Can we cope? We can if we recognize the fact that man's astonishing technological progress presents just as many dangers to society as opportunities; and if we remember that utopia, or the Kingdom of Heaven, or whatever you choose to call such a state of grace, is not something that we confer on our society with science or social institutions, but forge within our souls by an act of devotion to some thing or principle greater than ourselves. -- Wm. B. Fankboner

If we are not Looking for the Signs of what is going on in the dark recesses of political life, how will we recognise that we are no longer on the road toward the destiny in which we believed? If and when we do realise it, will we still be the people we now think that we are?

So the question remains. Who do we think we are and what do we think our destiny is?

As remarked in the Jerusalem Post article reference at the top of this page:

  • Everything that goes on in this country relates to the spiritual struggle behind it all.

Are we even aware that such a thing is taking place?

2013 Addendum:

Over the last 6 months I've noticed a lot of news coverage related to societal violence, and often the question is asked: "Why are our young people so full of anger?"

Many years ago in an article entitled: Religious Compartmentalisation, I wrote:

In the matters of Religion and Science, the west has undergone a tremendous upheaval during the last one hundred years or so, and if the rise of various religious fundamentalisms is any indication, despite our reliance upon science, as human creatures, we seem to need an inherent 'Reliance' on the 'scientifically dubious' Divine Power. Many folk wonder why it is that their children have turned from their religious traditions to new or exotic forms of religious observance, and it is not at all unreasonable to suggest that this is because our materialistic, logical, and science driven society, has robbed us of the inner emotional stability which comes through 'trusting in a higher power'.

The focus of that point was on those who turn to 'religion - to God', but there are many more who have failed to fill the void in their life. Robbed of the inner emotional stability which comes through 'trusting in a higher power', and lacking true moral fibre because it is now generally absent in our post-modern societies, these "younger" people are just ticking time bombs.

Whether it manifests itself in alcoholism, drug abuse, sexual abuse, physical abuse, road rage or other forms of violence such as mass murder, the underlying problem remains the same -- No ultimate sense of purpose or self-worth. I sometimes wonder if I am the only one to have noticed or whether I am just delusional, but since the biblical injunctions -- to 'Love your neighbour as yourself' and 'Do unto others as you would have them do unto you' -- have been replaced by the (Cultural Marxism / Communism) Political Correctness demands for 'non-discrimination', 'acceptence of minority ideology', and 'cultural diversity' (which requires denegration/ suppression of traditional culture), the level of violence has risen.

The intelligensia will naturally argue that what I just wrote is rubbish, but another question I would ask is 'Why is it that seeing someone on TV smoking will lead children to smoke, when seeing violent movies and playing violent video games has no effect?' The correct answer to that question is that the intelligensia have a vested interest in promoting violence in society since that very violence is what is needed to usher in the new communist Utopia. Marxists believe that the existing society must be destroyed in order to successfully establish the new order. They believe that society, like the Phoenix must die so that out of the ashes can rise the new Phoenix. I don't think that they realise that it is the same bird that rises, not one with a new design.

Cultural Marxists pay no attention to the lessons of history, and it is we who will suffer because of it.

We must begin to question what we have been taught. We must begin to see where our societies are headed. And most importantly, we must stop being bystanders who believe that there is nothing that they can do. Political agendas manipulate society because they are promoted by activists while the general populace remain silent. We must stop being silent and stand up against the activist agendas that are designed to fracture and ultimately destroy our society.

To Repeat: Everything that goes on in this country relates to the spiritual struggle behind it all.

Are we even aware that such a thing is taking place?

The Real Root of School Violence
by Tom DeWeese
January 12, 2013

Are there calls for stopping, banning, regulating the use of these mind-altering drugs? Is the pharmaceutical industry being called on the carpet? Are there emergency congressional hearings being held to showcase the heads of big pharma as murdering criminals? Not on your life. To date, there has never been issued a single peer- reviewed scientific paper officially claiming to prove ADD/ ADHD exists. Nor has there ever been a single bit of physical evidence to confirm the disease exists. So- called experts on the subject have refused to answer the simple question, "is ADD/ ADHD a real disease?" Medical researchers charge that ADHD does not meet the medical definition of a disease or syndrome or anything organic or biologic.

The Ancient Roman and Greek Empires are now but ruins. The British Empire which began to bud with Elizabeth I Rex and came into full bloom in the reign of Queen Victoria, is now reduced to just a 'Commonwealth of Nations'. And the Empire of the United States of America? The U.S. is only 400 years old (depending on how you define 'U.S.') whilst England is 1000 years old. Americans would hardly define themselves (at least as far as world politics goes) as an 'Imperial State' or an empire, but if one did, then surely that too would be very young, perhaps no more than 100 years.
