The Fallacy in Gun Control: Boston Bombing

I start this article with the disclaimer that "I am not an American". The issue of whether Americans "do or do not"; "should or should not" have the right to bear arms, is one that can only be debated by Americans themselves. In Australia, it is illegal to own a firearm unless one has a legally valid reason.

However, one of the claims that anti-gun lobbyists make is that access to guns leads to gun violence. I have no intention of arguing the accuracy of that claim, but I would argue that removing the 'right' of Americans to carry firearms will not 'prevent' or decrease 'MASS' violence and murder. In Australia, despite not having free access to firearms, there is still plenty of gun violence, and in China despite the ban on firearms there is still plenty of terrorism.

In recent days I have read quite a bit about the Tsarnaev brothers that paints a picture not of international Islamic terrorists, but of ordinary boys whose lives had encountered many difficulties. One article stated that one of the brothers had posted on facebook that he had no friends and that his life was unbearable. Perhaps it was because he was a 'foreigner', perhaps it was because he was a Muslim and perhaps it was because he didn't know how to make friends. There are a lot of kids in the world today who feel that their lives are miserable. Kids who don't fit in! Kids who aren't popular! Kids who don't know how to join in healthy everyday social activities. I know I was one of those. But most kids make it through life without resorting to mass murder

Today I read testimony from various friends of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev that he was a normal likeable kid and that perhaps he had been coerced into doing what he did. Who knows? It's far too early to say.

But what we do have here, is a situation in which, for whatever reason, these two boys decided to kill and maim a lot of people. They did not use guns. They built homemade bombs. And therein lies the fallacy that removing guns will remove the violence.

People intent on violence, will find a way with or without guns. Perhaps if these boys had had guns, they might have gone on a rampage at school and killed fellow students and there would have been no armed personnel at school to stop them. Perhaps they may have started shooting people in the street. In the end what they did do was to potentially kill hundreds of people.

You may draw what conclusions you will from these events and this commentary, but the fact remains, that 'Guns' are not responsible for violence - people are!

As I wrote here at Magic City on February 24, 2013 in an article later published at Kingscalendar titled: teaching Children to be Violent

  • The issue of whether or not Americans can or should carry firearms is not the business of people from other countries, however one thing that should not happen in the U.S. is that people should allow themselves to be deceived by 'activist agendas'. People kill people - guns are just weapons of choice or availability. Those who seek to kill, will use whatever is most readily at hand to accomplish the act. The question that should be addressed is WHY there is so much violence NOW in this day and age.

The Real Root of School Violence
by Tom DeWeese
January 12, 2013

Are there calls for stopping, banning, regulating the use of these mind-altering drugs? Is the pharmaceutical industry being called on the carpet? Are there emergency congressional hearings being held to showcase the heads of big pharma as murdering criminals? Not on your life. To date, there has never been issued a single peer- reviewed scientific paper officially claiming to prove ADD/ ADHD exists. Nor has there ever been a single bit of physical evidence to confirm the disease exists. So- called experts on the subject have refused to answer the simple question, "is ADD/ ADHD a real disease?" Medical researchers charge that ADHD does not meet the medical definition of a disease or syndrome or anything organic or biologic.

Who and What are we? - Time for Reflection

Marxists believe that the existing society must be destroyed in order to successfully establish the new order. They believe that society, like the Phoenix must die so that out of the ashes can rise the new Phoenix. I don't think that they realise that it is the same bird that rises, not one with a new design. Cultural Marxists pay no attention to the lessons of history, and it is we who will suffer because of it. We must begin to question what we have been taught. We must begin to see where our societies are headed. And most importantly, we must stop being bystanders who believe that there is nothing that they can do.
