Quite some time ago now, I had an email dialogue with someone on the issues of 'life in China' and 'life in America'. In one particular email, I expressed the reason for my deep seated opposition to Political Correctness - or rather, the political entity that it has become.
Today I want to share those thoughts publicly. These thoughts are not meant to be a comprehensive argument, but I do think that they succinctly express my core belief.
Having lived in China 9 years already, I have a better idea of what is in the minds of real Chinese people than does the armchair ideologue in the west, and I have known quite a number of Muslims from various parts of the world. What I write therefore, is based not upon ideology, but upon my 'experience and understanding' of real, everyday, living human beings and 'their' beliefs and feelings.
Political Correctness Suicide:
What I understand from living in China is that the Chinese at the deepest level consider themselves better than everyone else - after all, they have a 5000 year culture. Going hand in hand with that is the resentment of not having what the west has. Muslims at heart are the same.
What both groups see in places like the USA is "opportunity" to get wealthy, but of course being different from others they have suffered discrimination and so "Discrimination itself" must be opposed so that they would be freely accepted and so be free to get what they want.
Apply that principle to every type of activist group, and what you have is a country in which competing ideologues are doing their best to make it illegal to oppose their particular ideology.
What you get in the end, is an ideology which says that everything is permissible and OK and that to gainsay any ideology is wrong.
In the process of achieving all of this is the natural outcome or result in which all that was traditional and cultural is replaced. It is after all the source of discrimination.
Therefore, all that America was must be replaced in order to accommodate all the interest groups who want to "live in America and benefit from that society" but who don't want to be a part of that society.
This holds true in all western countries.
The people who push all this crap - the politically correct people and multiculturalists - don't realize that the very people they go out of their way to help, 'at heart', despise them and just use them to achieve their goals.
In the case of Muslims - if they ever take control of any western country, their first acts will be to get rid of the very people who helped them gain the power, by which I mean, the feminists, the gay activists, the human rights activists and all those allegedly do gooding activists who seek non discrimination and social harmony.
In saying all of this, I do not mean to imply that there is anything inherently evil in all of the above mentioned causes, or that Muslims or others are actively seeking to subvert the tradition and culture of their new homelands, but when push comes to shove, what will make it possible for such people to 'take over', is that we simply laid down and died in the face of angry and demanding activist groups whose only reason to support every minority issue, is to gain more power for themselves.
If the day comes that Muslims take over society, they will turn on such activists, quite simply because the Koran (like the Bible) stands for values quite opposed to those of the activist groups.
Recently I received an email from a source who forwarded a copy of a comment made on a particular site. I don't really know the background to all the material and I'm not providing the link to the original, but I would draw your attention to one section of the comment and to one line in particular.
- "It is the ultimate irony that a group of people who cries for tolerance and equality for all have no tolerance for another's right to have their own beliefs."
This is one section of the posted comment:
I AM really angry at you and others like you who are hateful and terrible because my father has beliefs that you disagree with. That is his right and something our country was founded on. He isn't a hater of anyone, even gays, he simply believes marriage is between a man and a woman. You have claimed he hates gays and couldn't be further from the truth!! It is the ultimate irony that a group of people who cries for tolerance and equality for all have no tolerance for another's right to have their own beliefs. It is blatant hypocrisy. If you are sorry that I am so angry, stop behaving this way. If you are sorry that your petty, mean, childish attacks on my family bother me, then stop. Find something else to do with yourself. Find a productive and mature way to have YOUR VOICE heard.
It bears repeating: "It is the ultimate irony that a group of people who cries for tolerance and equality for all have no tolerance for another's right to have their own beliefs".
Political Correctness is INTOLERANCE personified.
The Chinese have suffered a lot over the last one and a half centuries but the pinnacle of suffering was during the 'Cultural Revolution'; a name that ought to cause every man to stop and ponder the power of those two words.
In 2008 I was reading about the Cultural Revolution in a book called "Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China, by Jung Chang" and in an article at Magic City Morning Star News wrote the following:
The book traces three generations of the same family as they make the transition from pre to post Maoist Communism.
In Chapter 15 the author writes that while the pragmatists were actually running the country, there was relative freedom in the literary and artistic fields; and that because this did not sit well with the Chairman, he set about ideologically rectifying the situation.
As the cultural revolution wore on, victim numbers increased exponentially as people did their best to measure up to, and to protect themselves from, the physical manifestation of idealistic rhetoric.
It occurs to me that a major theme within the book is that the communist revolution was a wonderful ideological event only so long as the pragmatists were in charge of it. When ideologues took charge, everything collapsed. Deng Xiaoping was most definitely a pragmatist, and set the course for China's financial and military emergence.
The Chinese people learned the hard way what happens when 'ideologues' control society. They saw the real nasty side of human behaviour. We in the West have never experienced that. But if the PC thought police and other ideologues who rant and rave when we make a slip of the tongue or even say something deliberately have their way, we will know through first hand experience what the Chinese suffered.
To destroy a culture in the name of ideology is insane but to replace a culture that has flourished for centuries or millennia for the sake of a social experiment is just plain sick.
If we do not put a stop to the cancer eating through society in the name of 'humanity', the day won't be far off when we discover that there is nothing 'humane' about ideological power, and nothing 'human' about those who wield it.
For the moment however, the general population seems ready to put aside their feelings, thoughts, opinions, traditions, religious beliefs and culture, so that 'people won't think that they are discriminatory or racist'. At the end of the day unfortunately, when we divest ourselves of everything that we were, 'What are we?'
