From Magic City Morning Star R.P. BenDedek
Having read Jim Kouri's article entitled, Mexico, ACLU Preparing Lawsuit Against US Over Guard Deployment, I would like to ask some questions and make some statements. First I should point out that I am Australian. So you might like to stop reading at this point. Australia is an Island, so we do not have quite the same problem as faces the U.S.A. But there is an issue which my country shares with the U.S.A. It is this: 'We are like you, a Western, Democratic country, in which people have the right to express their thoughts (PC police not withstanding). Our worldview is coloured by our political and historical culture. PC types often like to accuse our citizens of xenophobia, which, according to the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary is the "fear and hatred of strangers or foreigners or of anything that is strange or foreign". I for one plead guilty to fearing things that are 'strange and foreign'.
I live in China, and note that whilst the Chinese can go west and become citizens, the converse is not true. Moreover, the Chinese government, like many of the Islamic leaders in the world today, do their best to curtail 'strange and foreign' ideas and cultures from infecting their domains. The Islamic world, which includes about a fifth of the world's population, is not much different to the Roman Catholic World of five hundred years ago. It was a world where people were required to hold a foreign allegiance that took precedence over national allegiances.
The majority worldview today, is xenophobic. Take away the word 'Hatred' from the definition of this word, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. It is normal. It is easily observed in the natural world - you know, the world of 'evolution theory'. It is natural. Furthermore, from the viewpoint of national politics, security, and culture, it is a must if a country is to survive 'intact'. If the culture of a nation is to change, that change should be a natural evolutionary process. Such processes usually take considerable time. I take no issue on either side of "the fence" on this subject, but I must ask a question. What is it that is so despicable about American culture, that Americans willingly seek to consort with foreign governments to overthrow the power and authority of their own. When American citizens press for a complete change in the historical culture of the nation, there can be but two reasons. The first reason is that their allegiances are to a foreign people, nation and culture. If that be the case, then there is no country in the world which would tolerate such treasonous behaviour.
If this be the case, such arguments should appear in public forums to help sway the general populace to adopt a new culture, a new way of living, or a new national border. In China, I often hear regurgitated propaganda. Of course, sometimes it is just for show. Mostly, it reflects the nationalism of the speaker. Who in their right mind can look down on a person who respects and supports their country. Who can condemn a patriot? And yet, wherever I turn, I see unpatriotic Americans condemning their governments and people, and seeking by force, to overthrow the history and culture of their nation. It seems, from what I have read, that such people find that the greatest of American guilts, is the guilt of having a successful and prosperous history. To seek any other would be a backward step. Moreover, those (such as terrorists) who through jealousy or ideological philosophy would seek the destruction of America, could have no greater ally than those Americans so eagerly seeking to bring down America, and create within it, a chaos from which it may not recover. America, Australia and Canada were founded upon and increased by the influx of 'foreigners and strangers', not because of some politically correct philosophy, but because such people positively added to the success of the nation, and the immigrants themselves came, because their homelands could not offer as much as did for example, America. Today however, what we see is a return to the times of the Holy Roman Catholic Empire, when a country's citizens held primary allegiance to foreign countries and foreign philosophies. The best example of that would be the London Bombers. We westerners may be superior with our liberal and democratic principles, but we are in fact in the minority, and if the traitors who seek to destroy our liberal and democratic nations are allowed to continue, America will no longer be the home of the brave but the home of the 'Slave'. That is just my opinion.
