In the News this week:

Bin Laden's Kettle and Pot

There is an old saying about 'the kettle calling the pot - black', but in the latest news on Osama bin Laden, it appears that he is like the Pot calling the kettle 'a Pot'. He has warned that if the Americans execute Khaled Sheikh Mohammed, then any American falling into his hands will be executed.

Now let me get this right. Jihadists slit the throats of prisoners, (combatants or not), on video, for all the world to see; without trial; without defence, while calling America 'The Big Satan'. BUT - if any of their terrorist agents is caught and prosecuted for 'CRIMES', and excuted, then America had better watch out because they will follow the American example of killing prisoners. Did I get that right?

Do you think this man is insane?

I don't! I think he does what all fundamentalists do. They justify their actions while disqualifying everyone else's actions. They are the ones in the right! They are the ones 'blessed' by 'true righteousness'. They are the ones with the supreme truth.

And speaking of Truth, what is really going on with Google in China? Google Shuts China Site in Dispute Over Censorship (N.Y. Times)

  • "It is certainly a historic moment," said Xiao Qiang of the China Internet project at the University of California, Berkeley. "The Internet was seen as a catalyst for China being more integrated into the world. The fact that Google cannot exist in China clearly indicates that China's path as a rising power is going in a direction different from what the world expected and what many Chinese were hoping for."

That is a telling line isn't it? "China's path as a rising power is going in a direction different from what the world expected"

And speaking of Expectations, what happens when you put those with no experience 'on the ground' in charge of solving the problems 'on the ground' Virtual Fence" fiasco along U.S.-Mexico border (Law Enforcement Examiner- Jim Kouri)

  • .. the so-called "virtual fence" continues to cause more problems than it solves, according to testimony at a session of the House Homeland Security Committee. According to a report obtained by the National Association of Chiefs of Police, the security contractor -- Boeing Co. -- is installing the hi-tech physical security system. The original plan called for a completion date by December 2009 at a cost of $1.1 billion virtual fence. According to the report obtained by NACOP, Boeing requested that completion date to be amended by seven years. Physical security experts told this writer it should surprise no one that a relatively simple project would become complicated and unmanageable given that fact that most of the decision-makers probably have no law enforcement, security or engineering background.

It seems that the result is that they "cause more problems" than they solve, which I guess is just about what seems to have happened with President Obamas latest success. Obamacare draws ire of state attorneys general; legal action planned (Law Enforcement Examiner Jim Kouri)

  • Several top law enforcement officials have indicated they plan to file lawsuits that will challenge the health care system overhaul. Of particular interest is the provision that forces American citizens to purchase health care insurance under penalty of fines or imprisonment.

When it comes to challenging the system, it might be appropriate to remember the old saying that 'there is more than one way to skin a cat'. It seems that some people consider the best way to challenge the President's plan, is to challenge the legality of the man and his party to even make plans. A Constitutional Weapon to fight Democrat Party Radicalism (William Jud, Magic City)

  • An elected official who does not support the Constitution, and who creates or approves legislation that is proven to be in any part un-Constitutional, voids that contract of employment effective on the date of first offense and is no longer empowered to hold public office.

From Afghanistan, to China to the Mexican border to Washington, the political landscape is certainly seething with volcanic activity, and we know how dangerous that can be. Is anyone safe anymore? Maybe we should ask CAIR about that.
