They say that 'tide and time' wait for no man. That is an observable natural phenomenon but the general meaning of the saying is that there are some things in life that you simply cannot control no matter what you do. We live today in an age where 'control' is exactly what everyone wants and one of the greatest weapons in gaining control over society is 'Political Activism' - the most effective of which cite issues of Political Correctness to justify their causes. Seven years ago (2005) in an article at Kingscalendar I wrote: "Political correctness is just one tool in evidence of an underlying cancer slowly eating away at Western Democracy". Politically Correct activists fight many different causes but their bottom line strategy is to demonstrate that their opponents are "GUILTY" - guilty of anything and everything one can quickly think of so as to disempower those same opponents. Unfortunately, from a psychological perspective, one can often see something more sinister than mere strategy at work in PC guilt tripping. Sometimes we can see 'Reaction Formation' at work. Reaction formation generally speaking is accusing others of those things of which you yourself are guilty BUT which you find inexcusable within yourself. It's rather like being a Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. One part of the character lives in the righteous, non discriminatory respectable world of PC but underneath there is a guilty secret that one doesn't want to let escape. It would ruin their image. And so they point the fingers of hatred at those guilty of the same thing - because in fact they "loath themselves". In that 2005 article mentioned above, citing as an example, I wrote about the public reaction against a certain person:
That last line is what I would draw your attention to today: They did the very thing of which they accused her! There is probably no one in the USA today who does not know about the Chick-Fil-A saga, and as I have followed it, I was interested to read a 'Reader's comment' in one online newspaper. It went like this:'
Therein lays the hidden face of Political correctness. It will not be disagreed with. It will not tolerate others. The title of the 2005 article at kingscalendar is "Political Correctness : Corrupting Democracy" but the Subtitle is "Political Correctness activists are not civilized and egalitarian". This point is becoming more and more obvious around the world. Like a rising tide on a stormy sea, political correctness has become a fearsome, agitated, all consuming swell that threatens to break down the walls of the dyke or levee and flood the surrounding land. But as "tide and tide wait for no man", the tide will turn no matter what anyone may do. The question is never "IF" the tide will turn, but "WHEN". Many of the gay lobby accuse the Christian lobby of homophobia and in the context of reaction formation, this could well be true but what is most definitely true, is that the hate mongering accusations and threats made against Chick-Fil-A demonstrate that those whose foundational cry claims to be that of 'democratic rights, justice, non discrimination and equality', do not themselves give unto others what they would have others give unto them. As Ed Feulner in his article Of Free Speech and Chick-Fil-A wrote:
We have it seems arrived at that point within the rising tide analogy, where we have reached the 'High Water' mark, but the water is not receding. Reader's comments in such articles as the times247. com article Chick-fil-A's gay marriage stance causing a social storm (July 19) demonstrate that people have begun to recognize the difference between 'rights' and 'freedom' - between reaching the high water mark and breaking down the levee and flooding the environment. Take these few comments for example:
The Politico.com article Chick-fil-A supporters plan mail-in reported an interesting point in that "Chick-fil-A reportedly saw record profits Wednesday as customers showed their support for president Dan Cathy". Various polls show majority support for Gay Marriage, but the Majority of people are not gay and that is something of which the Gay lobby and all those intolerant PC types should be aware. Most people don't feel threatened by homosexuals and homosexuality, but what they do feel threatened by is TOTALITARIANISM - the Communist intolerance for free speech and forced compliance with Big Brother doctrines. The tide will always turn and return. This is its natural cycle. But when the tide rises so high that it threatens the fabric of society; threatens the security and peace of a society, people will rise up against the tide. The USA, most particularly under President Obama, has not only been supporting the PC secular agenda and all that that concept entails; it has also been chipping away at religion. In the 2005 article at Kingscalendar reference was made to the reasons why many young people are turning their backs on Christianity and Traditional western values. For the Political Correctness Activists Organizations this may sound like good news as they themselves seek to destroy Christianity and Traditional Western Values, but the reality is that they may in fact be creating monsters:
Many who staunchly support the many activist agendas simply don't understand that many of those who lead these organizations are the very ones spoken of above. They want to destroy your society by any means necessary and if their methodology appears righteous then all the better. The current storm over Dan Cathy's comments is not about Gay Marriage, Gay Rights, homophobia, or Christians being bigots with hearts filled with hate, it is about destroying all views that oppose political correctness and the best way to do that is to get rid of all religious influence at all times and by any means. Perhaps "you don't" think that there are people out there who are deliberately seeking to destroy your traditional Judeo-Christian western society, but people like conservative crusader Phyllis Schlafly and journalist George Neumayr do.
If there is one thing that the Chick-Fil-A saga is now demonstrating, it is that people are rising up to reclaim their liberties - foremost of which is to have an opinion and express it. When your vocal dissent, disapproval or opposition is criminalized, then you know that your society is less free than Communist China today. The tide is indeed turning. The question is simply whether the tide is on its way out or on its way in; how far the waters will rise, what damage will be done, and to whom that damage will be done. Only time will tell!
