E.E.T. Baotou: No Licence to Hire Foreigners: Providing dodgy Visas

Further to a series of articles published late last year on how Foreigners in China are being "Scammed, Cheated, and Mistreated" in a private school in Baotou Inner Mongolia, it has now been revealed that while EET Baotou has been hiring foreign teachers, it actually has no Licence to hire foreign teachers.

According to unrevealed sources, the Owner/Manager of EET Baotou has boasted that her 'Friendships' [Guangxi relationships] with government officials makes it possible to bypass the Law.

According to one unidentified official, EET is organising foreign teachers via a 'backdoor' approach. (Refer to Dec 11, 2010 article which relates to an email received from a foreign teacher and her interview with another E.E.T. school, although EET is not mentioned in the article.)

It has also been revealed that one foreign teacher who had been on a work visa, and had that visa cancelled in order to work for EET, was provided with a 6 month 'Tourist Visa'. Foreign teachers are not permitted to work on tourist visas. According to sources, the foreign teacher refused to continue working until such times as her passport was returned to her. [This school has a record of withholding passports.] When the teacher discovered that her visa was a tourist visa, she promptly quit her job.

Hu Jintao, the President of China, has for some time now, been demanding that members of the Communist Party and Government officials, perform their duties honestly and with transparency. Apparently, despite the number of officials who have been prosecuted for corrupt practices, the President's words are not being heard in Baotou.

While details cannot be provided at this time, it is understood that there are measures currently being undertaken to bring EET Baotou and EET Shanghai to account for their actions in side stepping Chinese Employment laws.

If you are a foreign teacher looking for a job, then working for this private school in Baotou is destined to lead you up the garden path.

More Details about proposed action against the EET franchise company, will be published as it comes to hand.
