I have in the past made two trips to Sichuan and have written about my experiences.

Recently I was sent an email about the devastation to the Panda environment caused by the recent earthquake. I decided to use a photograph for the 'Photo of the Day' series and while looking for links to my Sichuan experiences, I came across an article in which I stated that I would soon create a file to show off pandas.

Since I never did that, I have created this article to give you a look at some Red Pandas, and other things at the park in Sichuan. If you want to know more about the park, you can go to this link http://www.panda.org.cn - Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding and read in English.

Ecological tourism is a special kind of tourism that is designed for cultural and natural special regions. It conserves the natural environment and helps to improve the living conditions of the residents. Besides, it helps the tourists get a deeper understanding and approval of the natural environment and local cultural customs.  An ecological tour can provide you refreshment into the wild nature as well as the experience of another new culture. It will help you to understand and know the local natural environment and cultural characteristics as much as possible.  At the same time, it also teaches you how to conserve and respect the wild lives. Therefore, our descendents may have the same opportunity to cisit this uncontaminated zoological garden.

With regard to the Earthquake Damage:

Giant pandas are more endangered than ever since the 2008 Sichuan earthquake... 23 percent of the pandas' habitat in the study area was destroyed, and fragmentation of the remaining habitat could hinder panda reproduction.

The Sichuan region is designated as a global hotspot for biodiversity, ... 12,000 species of plants and 1,122 species of vertebrates, the area includes more than half of the habitat for the Earth's wild giant panda population.

One Of These Creatures Escaped the Park

The Other is the Red Panda.

A Bit Dubious there!

The Bamboo grown on premises is not enough to feed the bears but enough to make the place look good.
