China, Google or Webhosting affects KingsCalendar

I stated a few days ago that I was having problems with the internet and even Apologised for not being able to publish various writers articles at Magic City. Well it seems that it was mostly up here in Inner Mongolia that we had such a difficult time with the internet. More southerly places just had minor delays.

Nevertheless, I discovered on the 7th that I still could not get into my own website, Kingscalendar.com. Today my webmaster informed me that Kingscalendar has been offline for 2 days in Australia. When he contacted the webserver, he was told that my bill was not paid. Huh? According to the account details on their website I am paid up until the end of 2010. I did a check of my banking details - yes! It was paid in September.

After offering proof that the account was paid (and that proof included a copy of my account statement on their website), the site was reinstated.

Normally one would just think that this was a clerical error, but I have been through this before, with my site disabled after my previous webserver UPGRADED.

When the Webserver advised that the site had been restored, the email included the following statement:

  • "It looks like there was a permissions issue with the user this domain is hosted under".

Well what sort of nonsense is that? The interesting thing though, is, that the last person to access Kingscalendar before it stopped working, was a Hong Kong Internet provider!

Coincidence? Maybe! But this is now the second time that Kingscalendar has been prevented access to the public. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens now.

There is a Jewish Proverb which says: 'Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get you!' I wonder if I am paranoid? I wonder if I am justified in being paranoid?

Anyway, for the moment at least, KingsCalendar is back up and running and the Students Site on google sites is still blocked, (at least in China) presumably because of Google.

Life is never dull when you live in China.
