Republished from May 2006, this article is as current as the new year we are in - 2011.
In an article published today in the Sunday Mail Online Newspaper Brisbane, it has been reported that Bibles have been banned from Public hospitals for fear of offending non Christians.
Anger over Bible bans in hospital by HANNAH DAVIES
- "BIBLES have been banned from hospital bedsides in Queensland because health bosses fear they will offend non-Christians".
I agree with the move.
One thing I learned when I was in the Police force, was the value of 'legal precedence'. Once a precedence has been set, other people may appeal to it to support their causes, or as defenses against charges.
With this banning of a Christian item, a precedence has been set, and we can now demand the removal of all religious icons and books from public view. So let's cover up those crucifixes and crosses; stars of David, and of course, all those other symbols such as religious dress, including the Muslim hajib.
But of course such a thing as banning religious dress would be ridiculous, but surely justified. If I am offended by religious symbols, then I should be able to demand that they not be put in public view. And of course the converse should also be a justifiable demand. All 'anti-religious' symbols should also be banned. All things that offend religious people are equally worthy of being banned.
But let's not stop there. I can't think of one truly religious group that approves of abortion, so all sign and mention of that too should be kept from public view. And let's not forget to remove all sight of and reference to pork (Jews, Muslims and Vegans), Alcohol (Muslims and recovering Alcoholics), and immodest dress, which offends some and tempts others to violence.
When society demands that 'some' members of society should be spared the sight of 'offensive' sights, then I think we can safely say, that in a democracy, the majority of people have a right to be spared the visual offense of seeing what they find unacceptable or offensive; politicians, Mexicans, or Gays for example. Faithul Muslims for instance find homosexuality offensive.
Now lest some of the crazies out there think that this banning of the Bible is just another plot by Islam to rid western society of Christianity, we might note that in addition to all the Christian leaders who have branded this decision as "multiculturalism gone mad", Islamic Council of Queensland president Abdul Jalal also said that the ban was unnecessary saying:
- "It is ridiculous to think that we might be offended by seeing a Bible in a drawer - it is an example of multiculturalism gone mad," he said.
- "Part of being a Muslim is that you have to be accepting of all religious texts."
Thank God that the Prince Charles Hospital's Anglican chaplain John Swift has said that his hospital had no plans to accomodate this ban. The Royal Brisbane and Princess Alexandra hospitals however have confirmed that the Gideon Bibles had been removed.
Some hospital sources however are trying to say that the 'real' issue is one of Hygiene. I don't know what is worse; the multicultural BS or the pathetic attempts to justify the ongoing attempt to destroy traditional culture.
This week in my classes, I laid down a challenge to my students to write 100 plus words on the topic of Conversational English classes. They were free to talk about Me, my teaching method, Conversational English as a Subject, their personal feelings about their abilities, or anything at all. I requested that they drop overly polite Chinese culture, and just be deadly honest and straightforward.
I told them that I can respect honesty, but can't stand lying politeness. You would be amazed at what I learned. I made them read what they had written.
One student said: You don't understand Chinese Culture. We don't like foreigners, and don't think we should have to learn English. What a wonderful thing it was for me to hear. You see, as I have written before, this is not news. I pointed out that 'feelings' were irrelevant, since their degree depends on their English Ability, and therefore their only consideration should be their own future career.
Another said: "You make us feel so useless".
I shocked them by informing them that they always make me feel useless as a teacher, because I can never get them to talk, can't get them to answer questions and can't motivate them.
The upshot of this exercise is that it perceptively changed the dynamic of the class, and did so quite dramatically. I've never had a class so involved. For the first time we truly connected. It was a breakthrough. I finally managed to break through the culture barrier.
So what does this have to do with banning Bibles in hospitals?
Political correctness and current approaches to multiculturalism are lies. We need honesty in society. We need to be open and honest so that everyone can communicate truthfully.
PC police pretend to be motivated by concern, decency and egalitarianism. But was this decision to ban Bibles taken after discussions with other religious groups, or after taking surveys from non religious patients?
If such had transpired, the report didn't mention it. Had such been the case, it would have been the greatest justification for the ban, certainly more rational than the lame hygiene excuse.
People born in our countries grow up seeing the religious heritage of the nation. Sure there are some with mental problems that drive them to attack religious people, but most non religious people are happy to get on with their lives as long as religious folk don't push religion down their throats.
As for the immigrants - well, did they not know Australia was a predominantly Christian country?
So what is the real agenda behind this ban? It is this, the destruction (or as they would say the deconstruction) of western culture.
I've said it before and will say it again, if over time the majority of the population rejects religion, or adopts one different to the tradition and history of the nation, then that is a natural evolution of society that is understandable and legitimate.
But this? This is just another outcome of the attempt by 'totalitarian activist groups' who believe that they are the enlightened ones, and we the dumb sheep that need correction, to reconstruct society.
The Chinese Government strongly opposes any person from a foreign country who attempts to upset the equilibrium of Chinese Society. While I am sure you might find some fault with this, the fundamental assertion is sound. It may also be found in such places as Saudi Arabia.
Australia and America are unique in that over the centuries they have absorbed 'foreign' peoples and cultures, whilst at the same time allowing them to maintain their own unique identities. Unfortunately, today's multiculturalism has a more sinister purpose; to destroy the unique character of the nation and replace it with something foreign.
Unfortunately, when the cultures of each foreign group takes precedence over the historical culture and character of the nation, what results is a competition between these groups to attain dominance. This is human nature. It is part and parcel of the theory of Evolution which so many of these multiculturalists espouse.
Today we see our dominant society being forcibly destroyed (principally through guilt), so that the minority societies will be free to compete with each other to fill the void.
If our societies are to be non religious, then that will happen in due course at its' own speed. But those with a vested interest in the destruction of all that we hold dear, have no patience when it comes to 'natural evolution'.
Someone recently sent me a power point email with a Picture of Jesus on the cross, accompanied by a series of texts listing various problems which plague our times.
It says that if we wonder what is happening to society; wondering why there is so much violence, disrespect, promiscuity and disease, then the answer is to be found in the fact that we have deliberately rejected the moral guidance of God and cultural history, and chosen a so called 'higher enlightened path'.
As was stated in the article: "Kentucky Schools go P.C." by Dave Miller, Ph.D.
- Promoters of the politically correct agenda maintain that their actions are simply the natural result of their 'sensitivity for tolerance and diversity.' However, the truth is they are hostile toward the moral principles of Christianity.
In another similar article, we are told that:
- One of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, Charles Carroll, in a letter to James McHenry on November 4, 1800, expounded further: 'Without morals a republic cannot subsist any length of time; they therefore who are decrying the Christian religion, whose morality is so sublime and pure' are undermining the solid foundation of morals, the best security for the duration of free governments (as quoted in Steiner, 1907, p. 475, emp. added). Another Founding Father, Noah Webster, in an October 16, 1829 letter to James Madison, likewise insisted: '[T]he Christian religion, in its purity, is the basis, or rather the source of all genuine freedom in government...and I am persuaded that no civil government of a republican form can exist and be durable in which the principles of that religion have not a controlling influence' (as quoted in Snyder, 1990, p. 253, emp. added).A.D. and B.C. are no Longer P.C. by Dave Miller, Ph.D.
The PC people who claim to be sensitive to the needs of others, never balk at Ramadan parades, or celebrations of Buddha's birthday and other such religious activities. So can it truly be said that they give a hoot about people's religious sensitivities? I think Not!
Their only goal is to destroy Christianity and Historical Culture. And while they do this, we do what exactly?
