Milton Friedman's Smoot-Hawley Lie
Milton Friedman, Noble Prize winning economist, was for the duration of his life the main pitchman for Free Trade. Friedman won his academic reputation with his publication of A Monetary History of the United States, 1967-1960. In it, he accurately attributes the cause of the Great Depression to the restrictive monetary policies of the Federal Reserve.

Who is Qualified? Who Gets Elected?
The most frequent negative comment I receive about Gov. Sarah Palin running for President is, "she is not qualified." However, none of the writers provides any clue as to what the qualifications are. Is it the ability to run the one hundred meters in less than ten seconds? Is it graduating from an Ivy League school? Is it being a lawyer?

Where Sarah Goes, the Grass Roots Grow
Patrick Buchanan declared the beginnings of a culture war at the Republican National Convention in 1992. And, by the 1996 election, "Pitchfork" Pat did not merely want to reform the White House--he and his Buchanan Brigade were damned near ready to storm the palace gates to burn it down.

John McCain Tanked the 2008 Election
Senator John McCain tanked the 2008 Election. Despite the fact that he was doing everything in his power to lose, he came amazingly close to winning. The 2008 election was not a vote of confidence for Barack Obama. For the most part, it was a rejection of the person John McCain and the policies he supported.

Small-Minded, Unforgiving, Xenophobic
"To our political and business leaders, we have more recently been valued only as 'the American Consumer'-a fat-assed mass of easily swayed, single-issue, over-leveraged dimwits. The Sarah Palin contingent is a particularly ugly subset of all this; her sort mines the worst in Americans, rather than the best. The Palin voters said they like her because she is just like them-and indeed she is: small-minded, unforgiving, xenophobic (this is the four syllable word for "racist)."

Bluebloods versus Beauty Queen
The blueblood Republicans are coming out of their catatonic shock to trash Gov. Sarah Palin. The Bluebloods (aka: RINO's, country club Republicans, Rockefeller Republicans, NeoCons, beltway boys, Wall Street Journal subscribers and chicken hawks) have discovered much to their surprise and dismay that voters actually like Gov. Sarah Palin. They are horrified.

Where is Sarah on Immigration?
Sarah Palin is certainly the leading candidate for the Republican nomination for President in 2012. With one glaring question that remains unanswered, "What is her position on immigration?"

The Yalie Nightmare Is Not Over Yet
The Yalie nightmare has been an unprecedented horror of twenty years from the inauguration of George H.W. 'Bush '43, to Bill Clinton, Yale Law, '73 to George W. Bush '68. The reign includes bit players such as Hillary Rodman-Clinton, Yale Law '73, John Kerry '66 and. Joe Lieberman '64, Yale Law '67. Let's roll the videotapes.

Who Stole Our Culture?
Sometime during the last half-century, someone stole our culture. Just 50 years ago, in the 1950s, America was a great place. It was safe. It was decent. Children got good educations in the public schools. Even blue-collar fathers brought home middle-class incomes, so moms could stay home with the kids. Television shows reflected sound, traditional values.

Dear Bishop Tobin
As a practicing Catholic, I strongly object to your condoning and encouraging illegal immigration.Your desire for "comprehensive immigration reform" is code for giving 20 million illegal aliens amnesty. This is a reward for law breaking. Your comments that imply thatICE agents, who are enforcing law, are doing something immoral are reprehensible.

Ethnic Voting in Congress
The ethnic voting patterns in Congress will determine the course immigration into the United States in the next decade. In fact, it will determine whether there will be a United States. The three ethnic voting blocs are the Hispanics, Africa-Americans and Jews. It will be shown that Catholics are not an ethnic group concerning immigration.

Dump John McCain

John McCain's policies would destroy the United States. His platform is 1) amnesty for the 20 million illegals in the country and open borders for millions more; 2) perpetual war in the Mid-East; and 3) outsourcing of millions of jobs through free trade.

Jonbo Goes to Washington
Your platoon is pinned down in a rice paddy by a sniper in the tree line. One trooper is screaming from pain. The medic went to him and was shot through the head. The radio is under water. Michael Wishnie has created his own Wishnie World, a Borrioboola-Gha in New Haven, where reality does not intrude. While Mrs. Jellby was a comical character created by Dickens, Mr. Wishnie is very real and very dangerous. A Psychohistory of George W. Bush
George W. Bush is the first Mexican President of the United States. He identifies with, sympathizes with and promotes the interests of the citizens of Mexico at the expense of American citizens. At the same time, he ritually sacrifices American citizens in a hopeless sandmire in Iraq, while allowing millions of Mexicans to cross into the United States.

Does Tancredo Understand Foreign Trade? No!
Tom Tancredo’s website shows a remarkable naiveté about foreign trade.  He would be well to listen to some of the programs of Lou Dobbs and read up on his Pat Buchanan. His positions both damage the average citizen in the United States and prevent him from gaining a huge political advantage over his political rivals in both political parties.
Further, Tancredo would be wise to extend his political campaign that "For A Secure America" means securing every person’s ability to have a job, not simply protecting the border.

The Unconstitutional Supremes (Part II)
The 1930’s spurred a further growth of the acceptance of the power of the Supreme Court’s authority to make constitutional rulings. The Supreme Court judges appointed by Republicans began to declare portions of FDR’s New Deal program unconstitutional on 5-4 votes in the 1930’s. In a nutshell, conservatives tried to use the Court to invalidate Roosevelt’s programs.

Friedman’s Folly - Deregulation of Electricity
Milton Friedman is regarded as an economist. He is not. He is an ideologue of the free market economy and he applies his free market theories to all economic matters large and small. It does not matter if his prescriptions do not work because he would only say that they had not been fully implemented, they had been implemented badly, or that they need no time to work. In other words, with Friedman there is no empirical real world test of his economic theories.
