BANGOR -- The Maine Snowmobile Association (MSA) recognized a number of snowmobile club volunteers and friends of Maine snowmobiling during the association's 40th Anniversary Annual Banquet held April 12, 2008 at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor. Honorees for the 2007-2008 snowmobile season are:

The President's Award: Rep. Herbert Clark of Millinocket. MSA President Harvey Chesley selected Rep. Clark as the recipient of this annual award, which was presented by incoming association President Paul Davis. During his twenty years in the legislature, Rep. Clark's name has appeared as a sponsor or co-sponsor of numerous pieces of legislation in support of Maine snowmobiling, and his sponsorship always comes with a commitment that he will make every effort towards a bill's success.

This year his work on behalf of LD-633 will result in additional monies for the snowmobile trail fund for seasons to come. During the last legislature, Clark's was a strong voice in opposition to the Katahdin Lake land deal, which he fought to the bitter end. Clark is also a member in long standing of the Northern Timber Cruisers snowmobile club of Millinocket and stays in close communication with area snowmobilers and the businesses that support and benefit from snowmobiling in the Katahdin Region. Davis, who served with Clark in the legislature, noted "There are a small number of legislators who we know we can always count on to step up for us, and one of these people is Rep. Herb Clark."

Rep. Herb Clark, right, is presented the MSA President's Award by MSA President-elect Paul Davis.
