SEBEC, MAINE -- Dave Kutcher, a high energy achiever with an impressive record of service and business success is establishing Kutcher Sporting Camps and Recreational Services in Sebec, Maine. The mission statement for the new venture is simple: "A safe place where you can bring your family and friends to share in the great outdoors in the great state of Maine." The sporting camps will provide the resources for families and friends to relax and enjoy wilderness and sporting activities in a safe and comfortable setting. Kutcher and his financé Terra Gosselin have slated August 22nd for the grand opening of Kutcher Sporting Camps and Recreational Services.
Kutcher is a former Captain in the US Marine Corps, with 13 plus years of service. His military training will come in handy especially in establishing safety protocols. After his stint in the service he went on to become a successful CEO of DAK Financial Group in Meredith, NH which creates safe money strategies for over 1,000 clients in New England. More recently he has become a registered Maine guide. All this experience has more than proven his mettle for this venture.
An advertisement in Uncle Henry's magazine in 2006 for 200 acres caught his eye. The area was perfect but he needed more land. Mary Gregor, the owner of Mountains and Meadows Trust, offered to sell him her adjoining 144 acre lot which sweetened the pot. The surrounding lands are not posted so the hunting grounds are vast and ripe with such wildlife as rabbit and grouse, coyote, bear, deer, and moose. A hunters haven!
After purchasing the land Kutcher met JR Fortier a trapper who lived nearby. Fortier was more than happy to look after the Kutcher property and share his vast knowledge of animal behavior as well as hunting and trapping practices. Keith Burton was recommended by Gregor for his superior road work. Burton's enthusiasm for the hunting facility project encouraged the involvement of his son and grandson, Joe and Craig Burton. The three generations were honored to produce a stable access road and to construct a first-rate facility.
Kutcher chose Coventry Log Homes, Inc. of Woodsville, NH to manufacture the lodge and camps. The Clearwater model with some modifications is the main lodge, while the Getaway, Timbertrail and Mountaineer models from the recreational camp series appealed to him for the outlying camps that surround the main lodge. Each camp has the added luxury of indoor plumbing as well as quick and efficient propane heat.
The facility supports up to 40 guests per week. Guests as well as riders on the 83/82 snowmobile trail that runs through the property will appreciate warm and nourishing food prepared by the capable hands of Terra and her mother, Cathy Wescott, who will manage the commercial kitchen with brother Jeff Robinson lending his expertise as a professional chef.
Services will include hunting packages throughout the year with guides and or dogs available at going rates, meals and a rifle range on a 9 hole adventure course will include archery shoots, and clay shooting. Nearby Sebec Lake makes easy access for guests interested in fishing or boating excursions.
The Grand Opening on August 22nd will feature a live band with Ronnie Cunningham and the New Society from Bangor, Maine. One of the camps will also be dedicated and named to honor the life of Keith Burton who recently passed away.
