So often we hear about God at Magic City (not mentioning J. Grant Swank Jr. by name or anything), and here today I see once again as I have on so many occasions, how the mysterious hand of God works.
After my article the other day calling for contributors to Morning Star News, I received between 25 and 30 articles in my email. This meant that I can prepare in Advance right through to and including Sunday's edition.
This job has taken up much of my 'out of class' time, but this week I also have written exams to correct, and so these articles were a marvelous blessing, as it allowed me to set up the article manager well in advance, so that I would have more 'teaching' time.
And then I see today, that Ken is OK - so to speak - and that he is getting ready to resume his duties. But isn't it funny how on this day, I had already prepared to publish the article by Thomas Brewton about Applying Christianity. He wrote:
- Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' (Mark 12:28-30)
- Love for Other People: Jesus continued: The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these. (Mark 12:31)
- Christianity is a positive, not a negative and critical faith. Other people must see in us the positive effect of the Holy Spirit. A cold and critical manner is the opposite.
- Within and outside the family we must be kind, loving, affectionate, and considerate of each other.
How appropriate it is to read these words after learning of Ken's financial and other difficulties. But it was not only Mr. Brewton's article that was sitting waiting for today to be published. There was also J. Grant Swank's article about 'Home', and God's love and neighbourly concern.
And there it was: A man dedicated to Millinocket; a man who gives of his own substance; a man in deep straights; a man who has been going through the testing of refinement. And so it was that I made a plea which I will repeat here:
There is someone in need of all the physical, financial, emotional and spiritual support that can be given by those who claim to have God in their hearts. Let us take up the Spirit of Sacrifice, the Spirit of Love, the Spirit of Digging Deep into the well of blessing, to bless another who has given so much.
Baruch Atah Adonai, Eloheinu Melek ha Olam! (Praise the Name of the Lord - Our God, the King of the Universe!)
