WASHINGTON, DC -- Representative Mike Michaud issued the following statement after voting to oppose a continuing resolution put forward by House leaders that defunds the Affordable Care Act:
"Instead of sitting down to work out a compromise with the White House and Senate, House leaders chose to put forward a bill that has no chance of getting past the Senate or being signed by the President. So now talk of a government shutdown will heat up and we'll again be forced, through a manufactured crisis, to put off acting on something passable until the last possible moment.
"This is no way to govern, and the brinksmanship must end. House leadership's ill-conceived approach furthers a pattern of dysfunction that is frustrating, unneeded, and bad for our economy."
