I received an email from one of our readers today and within it was a copy of a recent "Campaign for Liberty" newsletter in which Campaign for Liberty are calling for people to oppose the "United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD)" by signing a Fax Memo. The Fax memo contains information that was in their newsletter and I would summarize it as:
- 1. Despite the innocuous and even wonderful principles allegedly espoused in the treaty, what it will really do is make it possible for government bureaucrats to remove any child from their home without having to prove the parents were unfit and they can do this without due process...
- 2. It will ultimately mean that United States foreign aid programs will be controlled by the United Nations, with Americans paying for anything that the United Nations deems necessary.
The newsletter lists several imortant articles listed in this agreement:
Article 4(10)(a) requires that ALL American law that could affect anyone defined as disabled conform to the "standards" of the one-world socialists at the UN, while section 4(5) forces state and local governments to change their laws to please the UN;
Article 4(1)(e) gives UN bureaucrats the power to make "any person, organization, or private enterprise" conform to their standards, thus allowing them to impose costly, job-killing regulations on private businesses and give international bureaucrats unprecedented authority to violate our property, association, and even free speech rights;
Article 4(2) creates an entitlement to government-provided "economic, social and cultural" rights, thus creating a legal obligation for Congress to continue welfare spending;
Because there is a very real possibility that this treaty could be ratified by the Senate this year, the organization is calling on sleeping America to wake up. Last December, the Senate fell just six votes short of the 67 needed to ratify the treaty. Now President Barack Obama, Secretary of State John Kerry, Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Robert Menendez, and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are furiously working to round up those last six votes.
They are trying to keep the facts about this radical treaty away from the American people while they scare senators with the threat that they will be smeared as hating the disabled if they dare oppose this treaty.
Campaign for Liberty believes that the government needs to be reminded how serious 'Real' Americans are about defending their freedom.
