Tea Party Declaration of War

Washington D.C. - One of the nation's largest Tea Party groups announced it will lead a grassroots coalition to identify and support primary challengers to GOP Members of Congress who voted in favor of the largest tax increase in decades.

"This is war. Congress is going to learn that the Tea Party has not lost its bite," said Todd Cefaratti, founder of TheTeaParty.Net. The group, boasting 600,000 members and over 1.3 million supporters on Facebook, has been a leading opponent of any legislation that increases taxes or raises the debt, including Speaker Boehner's "Plan B" and this week's fiscal cliff compromise. "We expected Democrats to vote for the largest tax increase in decades and to not cut a dime from the federal budget. We didn't expect Republicans to do the same."

"The only thing worse than 'taxation without representation' is 'taxation with ineffective representation.' We invite citizens to join us in reclaiming Congress." Former Congressman J.D. Hayworth and National Advisor to TheTeaParty.Net said.

Niger Innis, the group's National Outreach Director added, "The GOP establishment is in its deathbed hiding under the covers and waiting for someone to pull the plug. We're going to form search committees to identify challengers to the Republicans who voted for this monstrosity."

TheTeaParty.net is a national non-profit 501(c)(4) organization created in 2009 for the education and advancement of the constitutional conservative values of the Tea Party movement.
