WASHINGTON, DC -- Representative Mike Michaud joined over 40 members of Congress from both sides of the aisle today on Capitol Hill to urge congressional leaders and President Obama to work together to solve the fiscal standoff.
"Washington needs to work together, and right now it seems like no one wants to sit down and pursue a solution that will pass both chambers and get signed by the President. That's the basic problem right now, and it's why I joined members of all political stripes to push for action," said Michaud. "Leaders need to know that if they bring a reasonable bill to the floor it will pass. Waging PR wars over a government shutdown and the debt ceiling is irresponsible and is impacting millions of Americans. And it's making it harder for both sides to come together to get government back to work for the American people."
Michaud is a member of a congressional "problem solvers" group organized by No Labels that has been working to build trust across the aisle in order to end the gridlock in Washington.
