Michaud Reviewing Supreme Court Decision

Congressman Mike Michaud released the following statement in response to Supreme Court's ruling that the Affordable Care Act is constitutional:

"I am pleased that the Supreme Court's ruling has provided the certainty Congress and the American people need on the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act. While I have always said it is not a perfect law, the Affordable Care Act is a huge step forward in providing affordable access to health care for Mainers," said Michaud. "Now that this decision is behind us, I hope we can roll up our sleeves and concentrate on rebuilding our economy and putting Mainers back to work."

The decision can be found here on the official Supreme Court website.

Congress Votes to Hold Attorney General in Contempt of Congress

Michaud Supports Court Decision on Subpoena

Congressman Mike Michaud released the following statement in response to the House of Representatives vote to cite Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress for failing to comply with a subpoena issued by the Oversight and Government Reform Committee. The House also passed a resolution authorizing legal action to force the Department of Justice (DOJ) to provide the documents requested by the Committee.

"I read the subpoena, many of the documents provided by DOJ, the Oversight and Government Reform Committee report, and I talked to Attorney General Holder before I cast my votes today," said Michaud. "Based on the facts, I determined that the Attorney General was not in contempt of Congress, but it is still not clear whether DOJ has complied fully with the Committee's subpoena. That is why I voted to authorize the House to take the matter to court, where it can be resolved in a nonpartisan fashion."
