Time to Vote

Tuesday is an important day. All Americans who are eligible should vote. Here in Maine we can anticipate that about thirty percent of registered voters won't take the time to vote on Tuesday. A higher percentage of evangelical Christians will choose not to vote that day, if national polls are to be trusted.

Elections are always important to God in a republican form of government like we have here in Maine. Elections create a direct link between the citizens who make the laws and the ones who live by them. Non participation in the process is no excuse before God.

Partial birth abortion is legal in Maine. Citizens who vote for candidates who lack the courage to ban that horrific practice are responsible before God. Homosexuality is coming out of the closet. Citizens who support their neighbors who hold public office are responsible, along with the office holder themselves. Citizens who don't bother to vote are also culpable before God.

America is not a monarchy. A king does not rule, nor does a Governor or President. Politicians are simply citizens who have been charged with a special public trust -- stewardship over our laws and public policies. It is the partnership between lawmaker and lawabider that God looks at as He views America.

If America is destroyed by her embrace of moral relativism, pornography, gambling, drunkenness and other vices her destruction will have been earned by the little choices each of us make each day.

Vote on Tuesday, November 2nd.
