For two thousand years, Christians have defended the lofty principle that marriage is the union of one man and one woman. They defended this principle even as the world was mired in sensuality, hedonism, and polygamy. They upheld the highest standard possible - absolute devotion to one person for life. And they succeeded. Raised up by the example of Christianity, the world adopted this noble ideal.
But after two thousand years, powerful forces are now at work to deprive the world of this high ideal, and to offer in its place a definition of marriage last heard amid the smoking ruins of Sodom and Gomorrah. By undermining the basis of all human societies, the legalization of same sex marriages threatens our very existence.
It is no exaggeration to say that it is a blow aimed at the heart of America. We are presented with one compelling question, “If we do not act to save our families and our nation, who will?” No other group in America will come to our defense - not the media, not academia, not our elected officials. It will be up to us to defend the family.
That is why we are asking all of you to join us March 2nd, at 9:30 A.M. on the third floor of the State House. We will rally to show our support for amending the Maine Constitution to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman. Again, we will meet on Tuesday, March 2nd, at 9:30 A.M. on the third floor of the State House. We look forward to seeing you there.
