Islam: A Case Still before the Courts

Homer wrote, "Scholars debate and the case is still before the courts." How long now has the Western world been witness to the crimes of Islam's religious maniacs and yet only a tiny and brave handful of men and women (many of them Muslim by birth) have come to realize and report that Islam the religion is father to the atrocities being committed by those religious whom Western journalists identify using the exculpatory term "Islamists." No matter their crimes, no matter their proud display of atrocities they've committed in the name of Islam--an Islam they contend is the real Islam--these religious madmen are nevertheless referred to and annotated in Western newspapers as "Islamists", as though the religion of Islam had no connection to their nefarious behaviour.

I know I've written on this phenomenon before, this intellectual vacillation peculiar to Western journalists, but the problem its virulence (in most cases its anti-Jewish hatred) leaves in its wake is by now destroying the very essence of all things Western democracies once regarded as sacrosanct: our national pride and our cultural traditions; what was once our collectively peaceful way of life. And so my love of this amazing country, which had once a healthy democracy but has now become very much debilitated in the hands of a politically-correct media and three totally self-indulgent political parties, demands that I again speak out on behalf of those Canadians who remember a Canada without the shameful and disgusting displays of anti-Jewish violence as took place in Mississauga and Calgary: a Canada without crowds of moderate Muslims shamelessly waving Hezbollah and Hamas flags in downtown Toronto, as though their religiously inspired fondness for such terrorist entities is in any measure welcomed by patriotic Canadians.

Edmund Burke warned, "There is, however, a limit at which forbearance ceases to be a virtue." I believe the forbearance Western democracies have imprudently shown the religion of Islam and its anti-democratic adherents has by now become a scourge of moral weakness. We see this not only in their reluctance to utterly and militarily destroy ISIS and Hamas, al-Qaeda and Boko Haram, but also in their tolerance, for political gain, those Muslims who from within the very democracies threatened by these terrorist entities loudly--or silently--advocate on their behalf. A divided kingdom cannot stand, and any democracy foolish and imprudent enough to court the favour of Islam the religion will eventually be taken down by its nonreciprocal ideology.

John F. Kennedy once said that "...the wave of the future is not the conquest of the world by a single dogmatic creed..." But JFK got it wrong. Islam is the "wave" and the "single dogmatic creed" now vying for political and religious supremacy in the world. You have Imam Anjem Choudary telling Britons that Britain will one day be ruled by sharia law, whether they like it or not, fully convinced that his violent religion and his violent methods and his violent followers will incite this 7th century theocratic nightmare into fruition. Not such a far-fetched vision on Choudary's part when you consider that on the other side of the Atlantic resides an American president who has warned all non-Muslim Americans that, "The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam"--in essence prohibiting any criticism of Islam the religion or, as it has turned out, voicing any objection to Muslim demands for religious and/or political preponderance: Today it's Gaza, tomorrow it will be Manhattan.

These days the political lethargy of our leaders, especially that of President Barack Obama, reminds me of Sophocles famous words: "I have nothing but contempt for the kind of governor who is afraid, for whatever reason, to follow the course that he knows is best for the State; and as for the man who sets private friendship above the public welfare--I have no use for him either." While the so-called "scholars" Homer mentions are forbidden to openly connect Islam proper with the atrocities those whom Western journalists refer to as "Islamists," our democracies are being destroyed from within by those who have been given free rein in our diminishing world to promote their Islamic-taught anti-Jewish hatred and their anti-everything Western agenda. The case is still before the courts concerning Islam the religion, but the verdict should have been arrived at long ago.
