My, my, my, election year certainly creates interesting newspaper headlines and commentaries:
As I sit here quietly on the sidelines observing the political Dog and Pony Show, my thoughts turn to all of the political shows going on across the country.
What to believe, what to think. Is it a Real-Life drama, a Magic Act or simply a White Elephant performance? White elephant - noun an object no longer of value to its owner but of value to others c : something of little or no value.
Kerry vs. Bush, United States citizens versus illegal alien 'immigrants', Liberal Left vs. Conservative Right. Quite frankly, it is beginning to remind me of the circus.
Many balancing acts are taking place on this political tight-rope wire. There is the Vietnam War and Kerry, is he a hero, is he not? There are the Gay marriages. Are they recognized or are they not? WWJD? There is the juggling act between the United States citizens, the Mexican citizens, and the great popcorn toss happening before our eyes between El Presidente Fox of Mexico and our own President Bush of America. Are we one and the same country now or are we not?
Call for the lions, call for the bears. Parade out the Left and balance with the Right. Who is right after all? What is in, what is out, what is Politically Correct and what is not? Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!
So I have my tickets and I have my seat and I say, “Bring on the clowns and bring on the elephants and let the Greatest Show on Earth begin.”
It is bound to get even more entertaining before the year is up. Strike up the band and let the good times roll. The Ring Master has arrived.
