In his opening remarks in the recent debate in Bangor, Jason Levesque told members of the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce that they need to fire Michaud.
Below are some excerpts of what he said:
"Last week Mike Michaud said jobs are not created in Washington. He's absolutely correct. They're not. But they are destroyed in Washington. When he voted for cap-and-trade, a trillion dollar failed stimulus, and a trillion dollar government takeover of our health care - that kills jobs right here in Maine."
"What we need to do is produce jobs. What we need to do is understand jobs aren't produced in Washington, they're produced in every community in Maine's 2nd Congressional District." "For our economy to grow and prosper, and for you to have a chance to build a future for yourselves and your employees, we need government out of the way. We need them off our back and out of our wallets.
"See, I believe this government and its representatives have failed us. I believe it is the role of government to listen to the people who put them there, to respect the Constitution, and to respect your personal liberties and individual freedoms. Our current representative does not feel that way. For the last 30 years, failed legislation from my opponent in Augusta and in Washington has led Maine down a path of ruin. We can't afford for this to go on any longer.
Quite frankly, folks, we need to fire Congressman Michaud."
