9:00 AM Community Development Appreciation Day

12:45 PM Press availability following meeting with 7 Maine transition teams, which help workers in the wake of layoffs

Michaud organized this meeting to hear from the transition teams that he helped set up over the years following the 2003 Great Northern Paper layoff that affected the Katahdin Region and directly impacted his friends and family. Michaud and his office play an active role with the transition teams, which have been established throughout Maine and are actively helping workers affected by large and small layoffs. Michaud's office has also been contacted by other congressional offices throughout the country on how to set up similar transition teams to help workers in their districts.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the transition teams' successes and challenges in helping workers in Maine and to help identify difficulties the workers and transition teams have faced and ways that outside resources and even legislative changes could help.
