Jason Levesque Calls on Nancy Pelosi to 'Drain the Swamp'

Last week, embroiled New York Congressman Charlie Rangel was officially charged with several ethics violations following a lengthy investigation which focused on a litany of accusations. The specific charges have not yet been released, however, the probes included: charges Congressman Rangel used official stationary to raise funding for a building in his name in New York; his potential illegal use of rent controlled apartments; his failure to report property and other assets as required by law; whether he preserved a tax shelter for a CEO of an oil drilling company that donated to him.

Mike Michaud, to the public's knowledge, has not returned the $12,000 in campaign donations he received from Rangel. And since last week's charges, he and Nancy Pelosi--who in 2006 and again 2008 made her infamous statement that she intended to "drain the swamp" of corruption and ethical problems in Congress-have been silent and refused to request his resignation.

2nd District Congressional Candidate Jason Levesque is calling on Congressman Michaud to finally return the cash and for Speaker Nancy Pelosi to stick to her own rhetoric and demand Rangel's resignation. "The People are tired of the politics as usual-stand by your party-corruption cycle in Washington. Nancy Pelosi took charge of Congress with a promise to 'drain the swamp.' Instead, we have seen one of her most powerful allies float to the top of it," Levesque said.

"Moreover, Mike Michaud must return the twelve thousand dollars he has received and ask his colleague to step down for the sake of the institution and the people it represents," Jason said. "Mike Michaud, as the latest FEC filings have demonstrated, received the vast majority of his donations from out-of-state special interests. His out of state friends and a crooked Congressman should not be deciding who best represents Maine. It shows us just who Mike Michaud has been beholden to with his 96% party line-special interest votes against the will of the people."

The ethics investigations into Rangel and the many accusations against him, reached its two year mark this month, details and the completion of their actions are still presumed to be months away.
