An Ode to Dad
Oh, where were you
When I was young
But a name
Upon my tongue
From early morn
Till late at night
You never came
Into my sight
Nine of us
And you made one
You worked the day
Till set of sun
Potatoes and taters
You did sow
Not one plant
You didn't know
Your tractor took you
Round the town
Up one row
The next one down
Coming home at
End of day
So sunburned
Too tired to pray
Now you're gone
We've laid you down
Neath your hallowed
Aroostook County ground...
