Thanks for the Help

Independence Day in Millinocket has always been a happy, social event and this year was no different. Celebrating the 4th of July here is something many of us look forward to after the long cold winter and muddy spring since it is a day that brings together local residents and those who return to visit family and friends.

One can always count on the joy of seeing the faces of those we haven’t had the pleasure of seeing in quite some time. This year was the first year for Millinocket Community Action Committee to participate in Veterans Park and offered us the opportunity to see and enjoy something we love best about this town - the people.

MCAC would like to thank all of those who visited us and shared a word or memory about the town and also those who participated in our raffles or played at our duck pond.

A big thank you to Money & Dick McGibbon, Alyce Maragus, and Roland Boucher for their help.

MCAC would also like to thank Brian Wiley for his personal donation to our committee and the spirit with which it was given.

The best thing about the duck pond MCAC had in the park was that all who played won a prize. Seeing all the happy faces on the children was worth more than we can say. It was a great experience which we had a lot of fun with, though I am sure Rosie must have seen duckies in her sleep that night. Congratulations to James King for his win on the jacket raffle. The second raffle, which will have names drawn for each of the four prizes: two afghans, a wreath and a decorative rocking horse, will be drawn on July 16, 2007. Chances are still being sold by members of MCAC. All of the proceeds from these activities will be used for the community.

Thanks again, and we hope everyone enjoyed the day as much as we did.
