The Millinocket Community Action Committee is having a "patriotic" art contest.

Children ages 5-13 are invited to submit an original artwork with a patriotic theme.

Entries will be grouped into two categories, ages 5-8 and 9-13.

Following the contest, all entries will be sent to the troops serving in Iraq. In order to protect the privacy of the children entering, parents are asked to attach a separate piece of paper to the artwork with their artist's name, age and phone number.

Entries must be submitted by June 25, 2007. The entry box will be located in the Municipal Building or entries may be mailed to: MCAC, P.O. Box 107, Millinocket, ME  04462.

Artworks will be displayed in Veteran's Memorial Park on July 4th where the public will be asked to vote for their favorite piece. Winning entries will receive a cash prize of $15.00 each.

MCAC would also like to have letters to include with the drawings we will be sending. A "mailbox" will be on the table in the park for anyone wishing to contribute a letter letting the troops know how much they are appreciated.

Thank you for helping to support the troops!
