WASHINGTON, DC -- The office of Congressman Mike Michaud issued the following statement today on the passing of Michaud's mother, Jean Michaud:

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Michaud, 79, loving mother of Congressman Mike Michaud and his five siblings and grandmother to 11 grandchildren, who died peacefully from natural causes Wednesday morning at Millinocket Hospital. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Michaud family, and out of respect for their loss we ask that any calls or inquiries be directed to his office.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday.

As families across Maine gather to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, the congressman wishes to express his deepest appreciation for the support he's received and respect for his family's privacy, and wishes everyone a very safe and happy Thanksgiving.
