MILLINOCKET -- Artists, craftspeople and supporters of the arts are invited to attend a free presentation by Lynn Thompson of the Maine Crafts Association on Saturday, March 22 at 1:00 pm, at the North Light Gallery, 256 Penobscot Avenue in Millinocket.

Thompson will present plans for the new Center for Maine Craft currently being constructed on the Maine turnpike. She will also talk about programs involving enhanced cultural tourism opportunities, access to wholesale and retail markets, a new Associates Degree in Traditional and Contemporary Craft in the community college system, grants and low-interest loans to craft artists and organizations, and more.

Everyone interested in craft, makers in traditional functional crafts and contemporary studio practice, as well as artisan food producers, should attend the gathering on March 21.

For more information, contact Lynn Thompson at 449-1362 or lthompson@mainecrafts.org
