In response to a statement in the article: Ready for some Mystery in which readers were encouraged to write in about Martha Stevens-David's articles, today I can present for you 2 that have already been received. R.P. BenDedek

I went to high school with Martha and was so excited when I found out she was writing short stories for the Star. I have encouraged her to publish these short stories for the world to enjoy as I have. She is one in a million and I always look forward with anticipation to "whats around the bend" from Martha.

My husband and I have read Martha's charming adventures about her relatives and her growing up years in Ashland, Maine. Whenever she kindly sends us a new one, we never fail to enjoy them. I read them aloud to my husband and sometimes the narratives are accompanied by our hearty laughter. Martha possesses the ability to allow the reader to feel as if they are sitting at the table, or peering into the houses, to catch a glimpse of the characters. Her descriptions of the people are detailed and allow them to come to life. For the longest time I did not realize that some of the tales were what Martha calls 'faction' a mix of fact and fiction. I have encouraged her to publish her wonderful stories of Ashland, and I know that there would be many in Aroostook County that would be pleased to read them. She is a historian with a marvelous sense of humor. If someone does not tell the stories, those personal accounts die with the ones who pass off this earthly scene. Aroostook County can be proud of Martha Stevens David.
