Letter to the Editor: Haiti?
By Milt Gross / R.P. BenDedek

To the editor:

This morning I looked down through the various Magic City News columns and articles -- and found no mention at all of Haiti.

I saw several religious columns, including mine, all, of course, all claiming the latest word from or idea about God and Christianity.

Perhaps Haiti's horrible earthquakes -- two to date -- and their tragic aftermath with thousands dead, hundreds injured, and the search for more survivors ending, doesn't matter to our group of Christian writers.

I do see on national news that there are some religious groups helping.

Thank God for them.

Sorry, God, and sorry, all you hurting and mourning and panicking Haitians, too bad we don't seem to care.

Milt Gross
Ellsworth

Response From Assisting Editor R.P. BenDedek

With regard to not seeing any mention of articles about Haiti in the Magic City Morning Star News columns, I must advise that in fact J. Grank Swank Jr has written several articles on the issue of the Haiti Earthquakes, but unfortunately I have not had a chance to publish them for him.

For this I do apologise. As you know, Ken Anderson the Editor is 'out of action' at the moment, and for the last 12 days I have had great difficulty in keeping articles published on a regular basis at Magic City.

Today is in fact the first day that I have had unrestricted access to the internet, whilst at the same time using a computer that is reliable. When I get around to writing about my trip you will understand.

The bottom line however, is that whilst articles about Haiti have been sent to me, it was too 'inconvenient' to publish them. The best I have been able to do has been to publish 'pre-prepared' articles that had been sitting in the article manager for several weeks. Hopefully over the next 10 days I will be able to bring everything up to date.

As from about February 15th onwards, it is going to become virtually impossible for me to continue to work on a daily basis, for Magic City Morning Star News.

Best Wishes.
