This week an email was received from Guy Rodgers, Executive Director of "ACT! for America" in which he is encouraging Americans to help financially support his organization by purchasing gifts from participating companies who will give a percentage of their proceeds to ACT! for America.
His email commenced with an anecdote about how his mother lived in Nazi Germany and witnessed a woman in her apartment building dragged off by the Gestapo because of her vocal criticisms of Adolf Hitler. He wrote:
- Miraculously, after the war ended, she dragged herself, half-dead, back into town. She had survived for years in a concentration camp. Most weren't so fortunate.
He pointed out that it just such stories as this that gave him a special appreciation for freedom, which is why he and his organization are fighting desperately to hang on to American Democracy in the face of continued pressure from Muslim groups.
He asks that as the holiday season approaches gift buyers might also contribute to this fight for freedom by logging in to the iGive program before commencing their online shopping! He writes:
- With every gift you buy, a portion of the purchase price will be donated back to ACT! for America by iGive -- at no cost to you!
He further points out that anything you would want to buy is available through the 1,300 companies that participate in the iGive program.
- Nearly $9,000 has been donated to ACT! for America since we launched the program in late October 2012.
