The Right Honourable Gordon Brown, MP.
Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
10 Downing Street
London, S.W. 1A 2AA
England, U.K.

Dear Sir,

I have had the luxury of reading your apology to the forgotten poor British children that were illegally shipped overseas to former British colonies like Australia and Canada between 1920 and 1960. This was sometimes done without the consent of their parents and at times they were lied to by the British government of the time that they were orphans.

Granted, that this indeed was a sad period in British history for those who were poor, because Britain had an oligarchic society that did not give a damn for those that belonged in the lower rungs of the ladder. Thus it became easy to shunt these poor unwanted children to other lands to get rid of what society then considered dead-weights upon the country. But the question here is was that the same Great Britain that claimed to be a caring Christian nation? I think not!

It would have been very easy for me to let this issue pass, but how could I have done so, knowing and befriending some of those poor children during their adulthood days? These poor children who were exposed to every cruelty and exploitation ended up as broken spirits that could not very well be healed.

When I befriended some of these injured souls, I did so knowing of their plight and since I knew their circumstances could not abandoned them as fellow humans, and leave them to their own devices. It was the betrayal of these poor abandoned children by the British Government that was a criminal act of great magnitude which must be righted and a few million pounds is not enough restitution for the wrecking of so many innocent lives, is it?

It is up to you Sir, therefore to follow up your words with deeds and make the lives of those left of those poor abandoned children more meaningful.

In closing, I do hope that this letter will not fall on deaf ears and that necessary action will be taken as early as possible.

Very respectfully,

Kenneth T. Tellis
