Today, as usual I went to Tim Horton's today for my usual cuppa, and met a real estate agent who hails from Montreal, QC. I sat down and chatted with him. We went on the different subjects and finally got to talk about Canada's coinage. I mentioned to him that the Canadian Mint was issuing gold coins, which were only 14 carat gold, whereas the British Mint and the U.S. Mint did not permit their gold coins to drop below 18-20 carats. But As I was about it, pointed out that the 76 Olympic coins that were issued in sets of $5.00 and $10.00 denominations were not really silver after the first set was issued in 1976. A Florida coin dealer wanting to test the silver in the Canadian Olympic coins broke some coins only to find that the interior was nickel with an overlay of sterling silver. That was a big shock to coin collectors worldwide. But this dyed in the wool English-speaking Liberal Quebecer, was not going to let someone disparage his country right or wrong.
He came out with the ploy: "but isn't this the greatest country in the world?" So, I told him, how can this be the greatest country in the world, if it violates the fundamental freedoms guaranteed to us by the British North America Act of 1867, and the United Nations Human Rights Charter of 1948? His answer was there is absolutely nothing wrong with Quebec's violation of the BNA Act of 1867 or the U.N. Human Rights Charter of 1948. When Canadians wonder what is wrong with Canada as it now stands, they do not take into account the apologists like this ex-Montrealer, who sees nothing wrong in Quebec violating the Human Rights of English-speaking Canadians. It is people like this ex-Montrealer who are part of the majority Canadians, who make the excuses to cover the excesses of both the Quebec government and the federal government in the area of the suppression linguistic freedoms. Because, it is they that have colluded with the political parties, into making Canada a little more than a BANANA REPUBLIC in the eyes of the world.
Of course if we look back to the 1976 Olympics in Montreal, QC, we will realize that it was in the time of Pierre-Elliott Trudeau, whose government permitted anything, so long as money was to be made. This debasing of Canada's coinage is a shame, because in the world of coin collectors, there is a certain respect for a country's coinage. As I pointed out earlier, in Canada's case respect meant nothing to Pierre-Elliott Trudeau or his coterie of lackeys, both Joual-speaking and English-speaking.
It is time for Canadians who have permitted Canada to go to the dogs, by acquiescing to the demands of politicians and their hidden agendas. It is now the time when Canadian citizens took full responsibility for their country. By firstly, openly stating that they do not want things to be run by opportunists, who are only in politics to feather their own nests? Canadians must come full circle and accept some of the responsibility for what they have permitted political hacks to do to Canada from 1964.
