Senator Barack H. Obama (D-IL)
713 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510
U.S.A.

Dear Senator,

First let me start this letter off by congratulating you on being nominated as the Democratic Candidate for the U.S. Presidency.

I would like to elaborate, by raising issues that concerns not just you and me, but the world we live in. If elected President of the United States of America in November, I hope that you will seek to bring a measure of peace and prosperity to your country and the world at large, because you will have the power to make it happen.

The last 10 years have been very hard on the lives of the people in our world. There have been two wars fought by America and its allies on foreign soil, but the loss of life in those two countries alone has been enormous. You must therefore attempt usher in an era of peace, by diplomacy and not by arms as has been the case these last eight long years. This is a time to count our blessings that things were not worse than they now are now, and that can at last the world can heave a sigh of relief. Yes, all these things can be possible if you lead the American people to peace and prosperity in our time.

Look around the world today, and note the aura of fear that rules it. Must we go on living in that mode, or should we seek a better, kinder, gentler place where peace and progress will be our only goals, and we will set an example for future generations to follow.

Senator, you have the key to the future, you can open up a whole new world, a world where we can all live in peace, where wars are things of the past. Then let us go forward to lay the foundation stones of our basic freedoms, which Democratic President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Address to Congress on January 6, 1941 spoke about, these being:

  1. Freedom of speech and expression
  2. Freedom of religion
  3. Freedom from want
  4. Freedom from fear

Just return to these basic values of the past and only good can follow. The rest is up to you Senator. Leave your mark on history that others may follow in your footsteps and you will have set an example for generations yet to come.

I close this letter to let you know Senator that I have enough faith in you, to know that you will do what must be done to make our world a better place to live in for generations of the future.

I am,
As always,
Sincerely yours,

Kenneth T. Tellis (a Citizen of the world)
