This Tuesday the voters of Millinocket will have the opportunity, in the privacy of the voting booth, to decide for themselves whether or not to fund Millinocket Area Growth and Investment Council (MAGIC) with another $30,000.00. When you cast that vote, please consider what you know MAGIC has or has not done with the funding we have provided to them so far, not on what they want you to believe MAGIC has done.
Forget the 12 page supplement which MAGIC paid for with funding provided by the voters. Forget the scare tactics used by MAGIC and their town council candidate/President to entice you to vote for more of the same. Instead, please think about what you believe MAGIC has done for Millinocket. Do you think our funding is being well spent? Do you think Millinocket has seen any of the economic development we hoped for and expected when we began providing funding to MAGIC?
From MAGIC’s recent report on the past five years which shows operating money received from Millinocket from 2002 to 2006, the town’s taxpayers have funded MAGIC $185,000.00 in those five years. In your opinion, do you see any economic development in Millinocket to merit that $185,000.00? What do you feel the town has to show for it?
Will you give them an additional $30,000.00 to bring that total to $215,000.00?
If not, then vote NO on MAGIC funding. A NO vote for MAGIC could be a yes vote for the chance to see some actual growth and fair economic development in our town.
Please, JUST SAY NO. Your town’s future is counting on you.
