Back in the dark ages of the 1960s, the job applications with which I had experience had a section titled: "List machines you are qualified to operate."
At that time, I filled out that area with machines like electric typewriter, adding machine, copier, etc. In late 1973, I began a 27-year career driving commercial vehicles (semi-trucks), and the list grew to include the various makes and models of truck tractors and transmissions I could operate proficiently.
Over the decades, my warped sense of humor has expanded to include a second list: Machines I am not qualified to operate.
This list includes, but is not limited to: cell phones, electric dishwashers (I do very well with the two dishwashers I was born with, one on the end of each arm in the form of hands!), television remote controls, DVD players, their predecessors, VHS players, electric can openers, electric toothbrushes, etc. The list is much longer, but you get the idea: I am technologically challenged and enjoy my current state of manual operation! It is well within my comfort zone to enjoy my lack of abilities!
