Escondido's Marie Waldron Needs Your Support

Marie Waldron is an elected City Councilwoman in Escondido, California, one of the most Republican cities in the country. She is now seeking reelection to her city council position. She is being attacked because she has tried to curtail illegal alien residency in her community.

Although she is a lifelong Republican, city council races are non-partisan. Her opposition for another term is coming mainly from "immigrant rights" groups upset by her sponsorship of a new Escondido city ordinance making it illegal to rent an apartment to an illegal alien. Apartment owners must require valid documents to show citizenship or legal status (a California driver's license will suffice). If she loses her reelection bid in this very Republican city, no local official in California will dare attempt to fight illegal aliens again. At least, that's what her opponents hope.

Waldron's proposal for curtailing illegal alien access to rental apartments has attracted national media attention and praises from immigration control leaders, but no national organization has come to her aid. She has the endorsement of the local Republican Party and San Diego congressman Brian Bilbray, but no campaign funds have been forthcoming. (California election law limits individual donations in municipal elections to $250 for individuals or $500 for a couple.)

Earlier this year, Waldron ran for the open State Assembly seat in her area as a candidate in the Republican Primary. Despite her credentials as a lifelong conservative Republican - she is pro-life, pro-2nd Amendment, a proven tax cutter, and an active member of the Minutemen-- she had to run against a candidate with no record on immigration control but a wealth of political connections. The most surprising thing about the primary campaign, however, was the behavior of the political action committee founded by Rep. Tom Tancredo, TeamAmericaPac. The head of the group, Bay Buchanan, after first saying they did not give endorsements in state races, then endorsed one of her opponents-a man with no track record on immigration control. TeamAmericaPac has not offered any support for Waldron's city council race.

Marie Waldron is now facing the wrath of the Reconquistas for her strong leadership in fighting illegal aliens. If she is defeated, it will be heralded by the open borders lobby as proof that illegal aliens have more power at the polls than the citizens who oppose them. Her retail shop on the main street in town has been egged since she introduced the proposed ordinance and she has had death threats. The police department has told her to be careful and "watch your back."

Let Marie hear from you. Send her a donation. She can win only if patriotic citizens step forward and show their colors. Send donations to: WALDRON FOR CITY COUNCIL, P.O. Box 300887, Escondido, CA 92030. Your check should have the campaign ID #961434. Or you can send a donation by credit card by calling her campaign office at 760-746-9570.
