Who's to Blame for the Sellout?
The nation's transportation experts have identified the top three priorities: a national freight network; urban congestion; and connecting new urban centers with the interstate system. The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, meeting in national conference last month, heard futurists predict that the cost of meeting the transportation needs would be $3.1 trillion over the next 25 years.  State and local governments are turning to "public-private partnerships" (PPP) to produce the funding.

American roads are the hottest commodity in the international marketplace. State and local governments are falling all over themselves to sell off highways, bridges, and all sorts of other revenue-producing infrastructure, to international financiers who are eager to snap up structures Americans have already paid for, and for which they continue to pay maintenance costs through endless taxes.

New World Heritage Sites Proposed
Thirty-four new sites are being proposed for addition to the existing 20 U.N. World Heritage sites in the United States. These proposed sites are from a list of more than 70 sites suggested for listing. The decision for listing is expected before the end of 2007.

Republicans and other conservatives had many reasons to be disappointed and upset with the Republican White House and Congress. Porous borders, and the steady march toward a North American Union are but a couple of the reasons Republicans switched sides in 2006, or worse - stayed home.
